We celebrate by having king cake (a cinnamon roll cake filled with cream cheese or other fillings), Parades where we throw candy and dance and sing to Zydeco music, serve our cultures foods and host chicken runs (where you chase a chicken in a race and try to catch it). Mardi gras beads and masquerade masks are also used during this holiday. From my knowledge, it started in my culture as a way to take from the rich and give to the poor, via catching chickens and giving them to the poor, but we have come a long way since then. There are also other places that celebrate this holiday, and some in a different way and reason too, but this is what Mardi Gras means to me, what does Mardi Gras mean to you?

As always, thank you for listening <3
