I AM a male victim of assault, so if we really want to go band-for-band on this topic, I have a reason and motivation to speak on it. You can focus on womenā€™s experiences while still acknowledging male victims. Male victims are often invalidated by OTHER MEN. Itā€™s largely a toxic masculinity issue.

Saying that women should be able to talk about how assault affects their gender specificallyā€”just like men sometimes talk about their own issuesā€”shouldnā€™t be seen as invalidating because itā€™s objectively not
