<![CDATA[just adhd or gen alpha youtube shorts addiction?]]>my younger sister will scroll YouTube shorts all day, she'll happly scroll from 8 am to 3 am.

after scrolling she's not able to focus on her schoolwork and she becomes agressive (hitting, kicking, punching, yelling, ect.) and my mom will say "oh, it's just her ADHD" and i've seen people say that things need to be fast paced with like crazy sub titles and subway serfers or Minecraft on the side of the screen and by having that it makes it so it's accessable to people with ADHD.

and I know that some people out there would likely call me an ablest for asking this question, but is this really and ADHD issue or is this caused by YouTube shorts? she wasn't always like this, she only gets like this because of YouTube shorts I think. I know not everything is youtube short's fault, but I think the ADHD she does have is made extremely worse by short form content.

I don't think anyone should be scrolling, let alone someone with ADHD, because if what happens to my younger sister is the norm, I think scrolling is extreamly harmful and the thought of what this would do to an adult or adolecent is kinda scary to me. like, I don't think they could work or care for themselves if this is the norm.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was younger like a large chunk of kids born in the late 2000's or very early 2010's but I honestly do not believe I have ADHD because of things like this, I find the stuff my younger sister watches to be very overwhelming and it makes me uncomfortable to watch to be honest.

do you guys think this is just ADHD or is this YouTube shorts addiction?

I have ADHD and I don’t act like this— at all. There will be times I do end up “throwing a fit” is just me getting really, really, really upset. (not mad, but overstimulated yk?). This is an increasing problem and it doesn’t help that professionals and parents alike will diagnose these types of kids with ADHD when in reality it’s overstimulation and low levels of attention.

edit: i also know its addicting because my yt shorts is full of jojo's bizzare adventure. i cant stop watching jojo... help...
