(a tip for kids of strict parents)

So, I was messing around and I found smth out. This is sort of long, so if you don't feel like reading it all and want to find the point of this post, I'm putting a star icon (like this: ★) in front of the paragraph it's in.

When I'm putting this switch up at night, it is crucial that I don't make any loud noises. This is because A) My parents bedroom is right across from mine, B) My mom is a light sleeper, and C) I'm not supposed to have this switch at all, and getting caught with it would be hell for me.

So, bcs of that, I have been getting really annoyed recently. Both my bathroom and bedroom door were squeaky af. Like really squeaky. Especially the bathroom. And they were extremely loud at night. My parents don't usually keep WD40, so I resorted to lifting up on the doors as I opened them, which didn't work for my bathroom (so I avoided even going in there even if I had to use it and just waited until morning) and worked for a while for my bedroom but it quit working. Now, since that method had stopped working, they were squeaky and I couldn't do anything about it...

Or so I thought.

★ I had some hand salve lying around from a christmas present I got (If you don't have that, anything generally oily like lotion would work, though I would reccommend chapstick bcs it solidifies). So, I decided to try putting it on my hinges. I applied it with some papertowel and made sure to press it into the creases and scratch anything blackened off as much as I could, and then I swung the door a few times to work it in, and it worked like a charm! My doors are now super quiet. I'm very happy with them.

I used to do that all the time back in my old house. Just make sure to consistently spray it on every couple days
