we don't just buy candy and chips, while things like cakes for birthdays are bought with it, we don't just buy sweets. without the EBT card, we actually eat worse, we might eat nothing but pancakes and ramen since we're broke, the EBT card allows us to buy more expensive foods like whole wheat bread and cottage cheese, while we do have things like frozen meals it's not all we bought. like you might go to the store and buy yourself something to put in your freezer, but it's not your entire purchase! you'd likely have like, other stuff in your cart, and most of it would likely be good for you i'd assume like if you bought tuna and some apples.

you might see someone extremely obese on disability because of the obesity and EBT aswell online flexing that they just buy Doritos and cupcakes with your taxes, but the majority of people on EBT i've seen on EBT are larger familys who struggle to make end's meet despite working full-time and doing stuff for money on the side like Uber or donating plasma (you get payed for your time) and people aren't stupid, people know that some plan chicken breast is better for your health than fried chicken for example.

in my region, I think obesity is mostly a cultural thing, people over-eat a lot down here and feeding someone is a show of love and affection.

I don't think that people should go hungry, or live off of ramen or whatever they can find inside of blessing boxes in church parking lots. I think people who view people on EBT as lazy bum free loaders are frankly heartless and cruel. and honestly, sure, someone might not be "starving" but people shouldn't live off of fucking bags of pancake mix since they can't afford anything else, maybe there's some people who cheated the system and don't need EBT and are on it anyway, but I think EBT is a neccery thing and the majority of people on it would ether go hungry or eat nothing but cheep carbs.
