My honest opinion on recent animeI think the anime community has been too focused on animation rather than writing.
This isn't just about the community, this changes the standard for anime production. Looking at 3D CGI examples like the newest Fist of The North Star or Berserk, it shows that 3D animation isn't recieved as well, even when it isn't the entire show. And Fist of The North Star Hokuto no Ken has a great story that people ignore for the 2d hand-drawn animation, which wouldn't be a problem if the hand-drawn anime didn't have objectively lazy writing (Solo Leveling) but still get all the hype.
Hokuto no Ken is also judged as an adaptation alone, not even as it's own show, which, as someone who has only seen Hokuto no Ken and not the older version, it feels like it completely erases my opinion of the story to everyone else.
It feels like even without 3d animation, the anime scene has become animation focused now, and newer shows coming out like Steel Ball Run are forced to cater to the "One Piece peak fiction" side of the fandom. What are your guys' thoughts? -
