I think it's because I only imagine certain scenes in my head (the entertaining and the breaking points). I never imagine the beginning scenario, so introductory chapters are always difficult for me to get through. I'm trying, at least.

@Noctis I'm trying to make it accurate to where vampire legends actually originated (in Southeast Europe). France would be western. I considered Italy, but nothing I could find said and vampire legends originated from there at all.
