@ilovemycat Insta does work, Its just inefficient. Do you want the unreliable guide?
-
@ilovemycat Firstly, I'm very sympathetic to your situation, and it's one of the reasons why having a web browser is important for Internet-enabled devices. The EFF is an example of one organization that discusses and frequently defends digital rights / online censorship: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2023/12/kids-online-safety-shouldnt-require-massive-online-censorship-and-surveillance
When I was growing up, it was a very frequent occurrence where the only device I was allowed to use was a DS or Wii, which had their own similar limited Internet browsers. So I do understand the struggle, and it's really annoying that as time goes on, more websites will stop working well.
As @LunaNova mentioned https://old.reddit.com is one of your best bets, if you click on a user's profile, there's a tiny "Send a private message" button on the right-hand side:

Although I would also be interested in hearing the guide to get Instagram working, even if it's unreliable!
I'm going to look at which of these services (FB, Instagram, Twitter, Discord) might be easiest to get a workaround in the DNS browser. For example, something like a browsedns<->discord connection, where you use the bdns chat to send messages on discord would be great. Or maybe somehow convincing Twitter to render the page anyway.

@VGMoose and @ilovemycat The unreliable guide is as follows
It requires you to open a recently made story, reply to it and then do something kinda odd to actually get the message to send
Requirements:
A recent story posted by the person you wish to message
An album posted by the person you wish to message-
Open the persons profile and hit "message" to open their chat (it will say no Internet and stay in a loop of loading, but we'll get to that in a moment)
-
Click on their profile then click on their recent story
-
Reply to the story with whatever you'd like to say and send the message
-
After sending the message, press B or back repeatedly until you get back to your starting page
-
Open insta and bam! Message should be sent!
In order to get chats to load, the person you are texting needs to have posted an album
-
Open their chat again by pressing "message" on their profile
-
Go to their profile and click on one of their albums. It should say "something went wrong".
-
Press reload. It should now say "View as (your insta name here)". Press View or whatever the button says
-
Now press B or back until you're back on the persons chat. Your chat history should now be loaded
-
