Nintendo has heavily restricted the web browser, which is also the reason you can’t play video/media, use advanced sites, log in to Discord, use any Cloudflare-protected sites, use virtually any PWA, and why the browser has a 20-minute timeout. (BTW: Use 45.55.142.122 as the DNS address(es) if you’re not already. It has a link here, plus a bunch of other features! It’s called Switchbru Dashboard and can be accessed on a computer/PC at dashboard.switchbru.com.)

Hello ! tried today if I can access with my hacked switch to the built-in browser and that's unsuccessful. When I enter the primary DNS (45.55.142.122) and test the connection, it's... a full success. No fail when trying to connect on the Internet.

What am I doing wrong ? (Switch v1, on 18.0.1 OFW / 1.7.1 AMS)

@er you can, but it cant be on the browser. you have to go into the nintendo e-shop search "youtube" and it should come up unless you have parental restrictions on your device.

I understand the facts of exploiting these vulnerabilities, but now as a responsible parent, how can we block access to this DNS from our internet box? If we set restrictions, it’s certainly not to circumvent them..

Ehhh if I was a parent, I would let them discover BDNS so that way if they wanna vent to someone they can just do it (it's also impossible to block access the DNS since it's incredibly easy to go to)

@Malfa The best and easiest way to prevent the captive browser from being displayed is to enable Parental Controls on the device. This prevents the user from editing their settings, and so they cannot enter the DNS to configure it in the first place.

For the Switch, this can be done in Settings. You don't actually need to block any ESRB content, just having parental controls enabled is enough to block access. A PIN will be prompted for when they go to change the DNS settings.

If you're tech-savvy, blocking all three of our DNS IP addresses at your router's configuration page will also fully block them from resolving DNS requests:

45.55.142.122
45.55.112.11
46.101.65.164

I can also recommend: 1.1.1.1 for families, which can be used to allow or disallow categories of websites, even across other devices on your network. It's a good way to filter all Internet requests without having to set up extra hardware. More info here: https://one.one.one.one/family/
