In this case, we mean "nobody" in the "malleable shell" sense.

Drinkbox Studios's Nobody Saves The World, a top-down procedurally-generated RPG that launched on the Xbox Series/One and PC earlier this year, has confirmed an April 14 release for Switch. It is also the first Drinkbox game to have online multiplayer support.

  • Nintendo Downloads - April 7, 2022
    GenesectG Genesect

Do you want to hear the awful truth about the work culture at the LEGO Star Wars developers, or do you just want to sock some dingers?

Things we missed last week: Not only did North America get Empire City: 1931, but Wonder Momo also came home (probably drunk). As well, SNK's Big Bang Pro Wrestling (no, Diamond Dallas Page is not in it) joined the Neo Geo Pocket Color collection.

  • UNO Gets 'Assassin's Creed Valhalla' DLC On Switch
    GenesectG Genesect

    UNO Valhalla is out now.

The Switch isn't exactly Ubisoft's first choice when it comes to Assassin's Creed titles; we got the recently remastered Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection, but when it comes to the company's flagship title - Assassin's Creed Valhalla - the Switch simply can't run such a massive, graphically intensive game.

The good news, though, is that Switch owners can get a brief taste of what they're missing out on with some new Assassin's Creed Valhalla themed DLC for UNO, cleverly (?) titled UNO Valhalla.

  • Random: Where's Ms. Pac-Man in Pac-Land?
    GenesectG Genesect

    Pac-Mom? I hardly know her.

In case you missed it, Pac-Land is out on Nintendo Switch today courtesy of Arcade Archives and Hamster. Those who have been eager to play this 1984 arcade classic now have a chance, just a little bit ahead of the release of Pac-Man Museum+.

Fans have spotted something a little bit off, however. Pac-Man's wife appears to have left him! Okay, let us slow down a second. At the end of every "trip" (basically level) in Pac-Land, Pac-Man returns home to his wife, Ms. Pac-Man, and their daughter. Now, if you're a die-hard Pac-Man fan, then you'll know that Ms. Pac-Man has a fairly iconic look, with a red bow in her "hair" along with red lips and red boots. Their child sports a similar look (without the lippy, obviously).

For a long time now Kirby creator and master of the Smash Bros. series Masahiro Sakurai has posted near-daily Super Smash Bros. This developer-only mode lets him line up angles and create special in-game shots that regular Smash players couldn't hope to catch with their retail copies.

  • Keep Calm, But Square Enix Has Trademarked 'Tactics Ogre: Reborn' In Japan
    GenesectG Genesect

"We are not alone in our loyalty".

Do you think Square Enix has got a hankering for strategy RPGs lately? What with Triangle Strategy being a roaring success, and the recently-announced The DioField Chronicle, the company seem to be storming the castle on the genre.

Look, if you're into strategy RPGs, it's likely that - outside of the Fire Emblem series - that you love Final Fantasy Tactics. And yes, we too want to see that on the Switch. But if you're a fan of Yasami Matsuno, then you've probably heard of and played at least one game in the Ogre Battle series, so we might have something for you still.

  • LEGO x Epic Games Announced, Planning A 'Metaverse' For Kids
    GenesectG Genesect

    Going after Roblox, probably.

How do you get a technology executive all giddy and excited? Talk about the Metaverse and a new era for the internet, of course, and now two giants in the entertainment and toy space are teaming up on a major new project in that space. In what could become a significant partnership, Epic Games is working with LEGO.

The big focus is the metaverse, and a concept that could perhaps be very similar to Roblox, which is now an enormous hub for playing and also making games. While Roblox is hugely successful and profitable, in recent months it has faced criticism for its business model and question marks over whether it's a safe and fair environment for children developing games on the platform. The announcement posted by Epic Games repeatedly emphasizes a focus on building a safe space for young creators.

  • The Wii U Gets Another New Game As 2.5D Platformer 'Pad Of Time' Launches Next Week
    GenesectG Genesect

    Wii U means life, right?

Back in November, we thought Captain U would be the last Wii U game released on the system. But, thanks to Markanime, that's not the case.

Pad of Time is a 2.5D platformer inspired by N64 classics that lets you travel between the past, present, and future of every single level. We hear you, Sonic CD fans! And we don't need to travel too far into the future to play it, as the game launches on 13th April.

  • Looks Like Nintendo Has Been Reprinting 3DS Retail Games For A Final Hurrah
    GenesectG Genesect

Look for thinner boxes and tweaked package design.

The 3DS was officially discontinued back in September 2020, with hardware production ending for a system that couldn't match the dizzy heights of its predecessor (the DS), but nevertheless remains a favourite for plenty of Nintendo gamers. There are definitely a few members of the 3DS fan club among our staff.

Though the only remaining hardware to buy will be legacy stock, we received an interesting tip from community member @pikuri_ highlighting that there appear to be various games (first- and third-party) getting reprints in Europe in recent months. Titles that were thought to be out of print were naturally seeing their prices increase on platforms like eBay, but some online retailers have had stock in recent times - very useful for filling out collections or picking up games that were originally missed.

  • Feature: Nintendo Reigns Supreme At The Science Museum's 'Power UP' Exhibition
    GenesectG Genesect

Play some of gaming's most iconic consoles and games.

Walking into the Basement Gallery of the London Science Museum, you're greeted by an uncomfortable warmth that often comes with gaming events, but this is soon forgotten when you cast your eyes over the sea of consoles lying in wait. We're all so used to seeing old gaming systems locked away behind glass, perched on a stand with just the right amount of lighting to give them an almost grandiose presence. But what the Power UP exhibition understands, however, is that consoles are meant to be played.

  • Video: Check Out This Japan-Only Club Nintendo Game You Likely Never Heard Of
    GenesectG Genesect

    Reclaim Mario's hat in 'Nintendoji'.

We Nintendo fans often pride ourselves on our vast and intimate knowledge of the company's back catalogue. Even when a piece of hardware or software isn't released in our territory, we'll either import it or sit there poring over details and videos of obscure releases we'll never get our hands on. Knowledge is power, after all, and 'Nintendo' and 'power' go hand in hand like strawberries and cream, or cheese and onion, or...

Okay, getting back to the point — Nintendoji! More casual fans, and even die-hard devotees, may never have heard of this DSiWare dungeon crawler. It was a digital-only reward for Gold and Platinum Club Nintendo members, much like the Zelda: Twilight Princess Picross game, although this one was Japan-only and therefore it will only have been played by a small fraction of fans worldwide.
