When the Wind Blows 1986 directed by Jimmy Murakami

When the Wind Blows is one of the most horrific yet beautiful animated mixed media films, I've seen that shows the realistic reality of nuclear war / fallout and misleading government instructions that were not yet practical and the fetal effects of radiation poisoning which the estimated death penalty is 2 days - two weeks from lethal radiation exposure few that survive suffer from everlasting effects of radiation and it can take years of recovery. This movie is considerably great for anti-war propaganda or anyone who is interested with the history of war, military, and destruction. The usage of real military film is such a unique touch and newspapers and information with even the mentions on how the main characters experienced World War II as children even promoting as if it was a normal and happy experience for them that sets up false hope for the upcoming war that is expected to break out in 2-3 days because at that time they were children and nuclear war wasn't what they were facing, and how they cope during these times the main characters being an sweet loving old couple Jim and Hilda. The mixed media in this movie is marvelous because their entire home is a 3d model of a house and every object inside of it I really how well the movie shows realism while also still having the characters 2d and the world building everything is so beautiful and it really makes an impact on at first seeing their world before they get hit by the nuclear bomb as we see this nice place deteriorate going from bright to this dark gloomy wasteland. The movie gets really dark towards the end but it's really sweet how Jim comforts his wife towards the end and keeping her in denial and from the painful truth of their fate it's probably true that he knows it it's morbid yet beautiful as they keep positive despite the conditions they are in. I really recommend you watch this movie fully if you haven't seen it and if you have I would like to know your thoughts this movie is also great if you're a fan of the fallout game series this is also an animated version of the graphic novel by Raymond Briggs
thank you, Raymond Briggs, and Jimmy Murakami to bringing his work to life in another form of media.
