Invalid pin issue

A friend of mine cannot message me because of a strange error: when setting his pin, he put the correct password, and it still did not allow him have a pin. Please help.

His display is BuilderThe20, he's doing it from his computer though--which may be the source of the issue, maybe He's using letters insteadof numbers
