@Kaylazz theres nothing wrong with darkshipping (proshipping isnt the correct term) as long as it remains fictional. most darkshippers ive met did it due to previous trauma. also #5 is sort of weird because its common for those with ocd to find comfort in cleaning and dinosaurs is a very common special interest among autistic people
i agree with 4 but it isnt that simple. people who are in cults are basically being groomed to stay

and 8 is invalid because some opinions are harmful. yes, opinions are okay until its things like "trump 2028" "trump wasnt in the files" (im using him as an example because its real-world things happening Now.)

I agree with all of this, especially the bit about proshipping. I understand where people are coming from when they say it's a coping mechanism, but them those same people will turn around and say fiction doesn't affect reality. If it doesn't affect reality, how is it helping you, a real person in a real reality, cope? It would have to affect reality to some extent then, right? Also, sure it's a coping mechanism, but not all coping mechanisms are healthy. It can feel like it's helping, but it really just makes things worse. It's comparable to saying self inflicted harm is "just a coping mechanism." Sure, it is definitely a way people cope, I should know as someone who's gone through it, but that doesn't mean it's helping.

This is all true (for the most part...) but I dont really see the problem with proshippers lol they aren't harming anyone unless they condone the stuff they ship irl. Fiction is fiction imo

@willoftheworld from what ive seen a lot of my darkshipper moots actually did recover by darkshipping. projecting their trauma onto fictonal characters would help them understand what happened and why it happened, as well as whats wrong about it

though im not too fond of darkshippers who do it just because they want to

@spwnchild While I can see where you're coming from, and can unfortunately confirm that statement to be very true because of my own personal experience, it still isn't a good or healthy thing to do to get over it. Professional help is usually the way to go rather than leaving a part of you to romanticize grooming and such. This is in no way a statement of hatred or hostility, but rather concern for those who DO darkship and such.

@seal In a case like that, I feel it's a bit different. By projecting trauma onto characters to see what happened from an outside perspective seems like an actual decent way to get a better understanding of what had happened. It's when people start to just ship characters together for the sake of enjoying seeing the dynamic of unhealthy ships that it becomes a bad thing. Or like you said, people that do it just because they can
