Science Revision: Space

I have a science test on Friday so I thought i'd post my revision notes because uh, why not?

Seasons & Days

• 1 full rotation of the earth is 24 hours
• one full rotation of the sun is 365 1/4 days

The seasons are caused by:

1. earth's tilt on it's axis
2. it's position around the sun

if the earth is tilted towards the sun you experience Summer, however if it's tilted away you experience Winter.

Planets

In order from the sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and then Neptune. Pluto is no longer included because it's now seen as a ''dwarf planet''

Light year- The distance light travels in one year.
Distance = Speed X Time
Speed of light = 300,000,000 m/s
1 light year = 9,460,000,000 m

Star - A large mass at the centre of a solar system that produces heat and light.
Galaxy - A cluster of billions of stars, held together by gravity.
Planet - A large object in orbit around a star.
Moon - a natural satellite that orbits a planet.

The seasons and days are inaccurate Earth has no tilt as it is flat. It also doesn't rotate! Seasons are caused by sun and moon speeds and days are caused by the tiny sun and moon flying around over the Earth spreading light and darkness respectively. (Gonna clarify I'm kidding)
