So my best friend is coming to me, everyday and telling me about the things her parents keep doing to her. I want to help, but don't know how, are these signs of abuse?
Her parents are constantly calling her sneaky and threatening to send her to her dad's house who is an alcoholic. Whenever they leave the house they slot a piece of folded paper in her door and tells her if she comes out that they will send her to her dad's house. They turn off her boiler just so she can't shower. They refuse to give her a house key and instead make her wait outside for upwards of like 4 hours.
In my opinion it's abuse, but that could be because of my age. Maybe I don't understand enough? Idk, I just want others opinions on this :/
@Aries I would say it's possibly abuse does she signs of physical abuse the other treatment I would probably consider psychological abuse more so though but reallyI reccomend trying to reach out for help if you can for your friend sadly I know there's been times it's olny made things worst for a person going through the abuse alot worst though bless your friend's struggles though </3

I think you should talk to a school counselor if y'all go to the same school and let them handle it

@bunnykek Her parents don't hit her anymore, they used to slap her whenever she got told off but she reported it and they just called her parents. That just made them go mental at her and then her mum didn't talk to her for 7 weeks. She was only 10 at the time too :/ I think that's why She's scared to report anything

@Aries understandable this is why counselors suck not sure if theres another way to report this I'm glad they don't hit your friend anymore I hope she's able to get through this

secretly bring in hotline numbers inside of books and if that doesn't work, teach the victim the hotline numbers in memory for him/her to call

@Aries why are you even questioning this? ofc it's abuse and your friend needs to tell someone who can help immediately

i wanna tell you my experience with child protective services and put my two cents in. yeah, this is definitely abuse. but at least where i live, cps almost never cares about that sort of thing. yk the whole belt2ass meme on here? yeah, that was my childhood. it stopped when i was 10 bc i was getting too old and it was getting creepy or something? idk im not my mom but cpa first investigated my mother when my sister 6 months old or less broke her skull, or well, fractured it. she clamed my sister rolled out of her arms. some lady stripped me down and asked about every bruise ''i don't know'' i said and my brother probably said the same. last year someone reported my family to cps, our house was full of fleas, they left me red and itchy and they knew my dad was a drinker (i love my dad, he never hit me he just went through a tough patch idk) they threatened to take us, never did. in GA where i live, none is bothered by physical or psychological abuse, its normal or something. i am not sure at all what its like in the uk but i'd say if you wanted cps involed i'd make sure you had a lot of evidence and be willing to gamble on making her life a living hell more than it is now. or just support her until she can legally say 'fuck you bloodly bastards im outta here'' and they cant do shit.

sorry for the yap session, i put a bit of my own personal experien in there to try to understand where im comm'n from

Yes, this is considered abuse.
Forcing them to stay outside for hours and risking them being kidnapped is definitely putting them in danger, and therefore a form of abuse as they r willingly putting her in danger.
