Shitposting

respectfully how the hell is
"Newsletter ahh post
"
and
"newsletter ahh newsletter"
considered shitposting, can we even try to be funny anymore??? -
oh my god sorry for not having the same humor as admins and moderators but respectfully this is the dumbest thing to get possibly warned or banned about.
-
maybe instead of repeatedly dishing out warnings you could explain it to us in dms or something because as you can tell, nobody looked at the shitposting rule
-
Hi @Shrub,
I want to clarify the reasoning behind your warning.
The warning was not issued because of your humor. The issue was the context and quality of the comments. The messages:
newsletter ahh post
newsletter ahh newsletterwere considered low-effort and non-constructive in an official announcement thread.
Announcement posts are meant to remain focused so members can ask questions, provide feedback, and discuss the update. Reaction-style or dismissive comments do not contribute to the conversation and, when repeated by multiple users, can derail important threads. In this context, this falls under borderline shitposting.
This is a formal written warning, and the decision will remain in place. It is not a ban or severe action, but it is a reminder to follow expectations for official threads.
You are welcome to joke and be humorous in the community. However:
- Official announcements must remain constructive
- Meme or reaction-style comments should be kept to Shoutbox or casual/off-topic areas
Regarding your comment about explanations- warnings are sent through DMs specifically so users can ask questions or receive clarification, which is the purpose of this conversation.
If you have further questions, you may reply here. Otherwise, please ensure future participation in official threads remains constructive.

Hi @Shrub, @Jujub_811,
This is not being treated as a personal opinion or a judgment about anyone’s humor.
Moderation decisions are based on content standards and context, not whether a comment is funny or not.
Comments that are reaction-only, dismissive, or add no discussion value are classified under our standards as low-effort / non-constructive. This is a moderation category used to keep important threads readable and on-topic.
This standard is applied based on:
- Thread type (official announcement vs casual discussion)
- Contribution to the topic
- Risk of derailing or encouraging similar reaction chains
If these types of comments are allowed in announcement posts, they often lead to multiple similar replies, which lowers the quality and usability of the thread. That is what the rule is intended to prevent.
This was issued as a written warning, which is a low-level reminder, not a disciplinary strike or punishment.
To be clear: Humor is allowed in BrowseDNS
This is a content standard decision, not a personal or subjective one.
We appreciate the feedback, but the warning will remain logged. Moving forward, please keep replies in official threads constructive and discussion-focused.
-
did it lead to derailing though? it didnt
-
you take action before said problem even happens
-
nothing happened and you literally warned me for something that annoyed you, that wasnt targeted to you, nor was it breaking a rule
-
You’re right -- the thread itself didn’t actually get derailed.
The warning was meant as a preventative step. In the past, reaction-style comments on announcement posts have turned into chains, which makes important threads harder to read and follow.
That being said, the goal isn’t to warn people for something that hasn’t become a real problem. Warnings are meant to guide things before they turn into spam or off-topic chains------- not to shut down normal interaction or humor.
Going forward, to keep things clear:
- A single light or joking comment on its own isn’t an issue
- Action will only be taken if replies start turning into chains, spam, or derail the thread
- Announcement posts should stay mostly constructive,, but normal engagement is still fine .
-
okay but your warning was literally in the wrong
-
you're warning me for something i DIDN'T DO.
-
I didn't shitpost
-
I want to clear this up.
The warning was given because the comments looked like reaction-only replies on an announcement post. In the past, that kind of thing has turned into chains and derailed important threads, so it was handled early to prevent that.
However, after looking at it again, your comments by themselves didn’t actually cause any disruption.
Because of that, the warning was unnecessary and it will be removed from your record.
Going forward, we’ll only step in if posts actually start turning into spam, chains, or off-topic replies... not for single light or joking comments.
In the future, do not hesitate to reach out as you have done today.
