africa has some cool ones (besides Egyptian folklore), my fav is the kishi which is like a hyena wearwolf that seduces its victims, i think its a underrated folk creature:P

anyways, the teleputchi (def butchering the spelling) is a cool mexican harpy vampire i did a research project on a while ago
it was made to explain the deaths of infants, which was usually actually caused by mothers accidentally sufficating the infants during breast feeding or while sleeping
this one that doesnt get alot of attention but theres alot more to it and its origins actually go way deeper

but to summarize, once a month the teleputchi, disguised as women, the upper half of the creature separates and turn into a vulture i think and goes to hunt for its next victim (which is usually a infant as previously mentioned)

people were actually accused of being teleputchi and hanged, simmular to witch trials, and the most recent documented hanging was 1973 i think
and one of the weird rules of the teleputchi was that if you discovered its identity youd turn into one if you snitched... which makes it kinda impossible to expose

i like german mythology the best because it has spawned the fenixmannlein they abduct women and steer a ship to abduct all humans, (i thinks)

So i feel like i didn't yap enough about the fenixmannlein previously even though i find them really interesting, so im gonna do a little bit of that yapping now, te fenixmannlein are earth sprites and dwarves known in the silesia region it is said that they can be heard kneading dough and shaping cakes, it is also said that they throw huge parties out in the mountainous regions, they will also abduct women while they're giving birth. they also swap out their own children for human children them being called changelings, to rescue the child the father must ride on horse back to retrieve them and lead a trail of yarn which will distract the fenixmannlein since they have to reel it in, once the child is brought home it is finally safe. they steer a ship to abduct all humans and anyone unlucky enough to come near it.
