Dependence and Independence

Hey guys i'm back again and this article may or may not be edited in the future cause typing on switch is hell...also this article may give you a slice of my life so yeah enjoy i guess

So recently my parents have always told me that Independence always starts at home, but does it really?, Now look, A lot of us on here are teenagers, Were all struggling with something but me, I'm struggling with getting my independence because i feel like my life is a lot more micro-managed than you guys think, I mean i haven't actually used my phone in months, My computer is still stuck in school and my parents well they just don't really understand me, Nobody does, And not even in an emo or dramatic way either i literally feel unheard and misunderstood, Now i'm gonna conclude this article and say this: Where do you think Independence starts? And how does Independence start?, Alright later

Independence starts when you are given the opportunity to use it. In some cases, like mine, I had to make my own Independence because like you said, my parents also micro manage my life to the extreme.

@ilovecats2018 Well i mean there are times i've been given the opportunity but i always messed up, There are times were i hate myself for it, And even when i try my best to restart they just don't get it i usually feel envy at other people because they have everything and i have nothing

I had to become independent at a young age, simply just to survive properly. Most basic skills I have were self taught. Independence is always there, it's whether you choose to use it or not.

@Aries Well i choose independence, I love trying new things, But everyone around me just keeps barring me i can barely function, I procrastinate for long periods of time, My edgy and envious jokes have gotten me into trouble, And i just don't have the qualities of an average independent person

independence starts when you make your own decisions and do things by yourself/provide for yourself
ive been cooking my whole family breakfast on weekends and spent all day making a bunch of cupcakes for the teachers at my school by myself, i consider these things to be a good start, along with taking the bus home, small steps:P

i usually buy things i want with my own money but ngl my step dad has been spoiling me lately TvT

Independence starts the moment you start developing relationships with people aside from family members. Your decisions with those people are ultimately going to be independent of others and well, emotional dependence can develop depending on the person. This is one form of independence and I believe it to be the first most will experience if they grow up in a caring household. Otherwise in terms of providing and surviving, I think learning how to cook or just do basic "around the house things" is the first large step for independence
