the browser isnt really hidden, its intended for things like starbucks wifi signin and hotel wifi signin

@Dawnthedemon This is also why the browser exists like this as the Nintendo Switch's tagline is to 'play anywhere' so they would need a system where you can sign in at hotels and stuff to play anywhere.

I hope, the way nintendo just stabbed us in the back with a hella restricted browser (EVEN THOUGH THEY MADE A PROPERLY FUNCTIONAL ONE ON THE WII AND DS CONSOLES) just hurts me.

Probably. The switch 2 is going to be Backwards compatible with switch games. And Nintendo switch online isn't going anywhere. If their tagline is "Play Anywhere" then they would still need the redirect for the hotels. So maybe

it should have a browser, because of network registration. if you have to log into a network, then they need the browser.

They could make further lockdown-related changes though to ensure it only works at hotels/planes, and not be able to navigate to any external websites.

I'm hoping that they'd allow third party browsers in the eShop. It doesn't seem like it's a big security concern anymore. (Last ~5 years of the Switch have had no successful web exploits).
