when you defeat maliketh the black blade, he says "witless tarnished, why covet destined death? to kill what?" this really stuck iut to me, because maliketh, instead of sounding bitter, or accepting of their death lik other bosses such as godfrey, maliketh sounds sad. hes grappeling with the knowledge that he failed the duty entrusted unto him by queen marika once again. this isnt the first time maliketh has failed to protect the rune of death, on the night of the black knives, assasins stole a shard of the rune of death, killing godwyn the golden and unleashing a plague of death upon the lands between. this goes with when maliketh says "to kill what?" where he sounds the most defeated. he knows that you are goingto use the rune to kill aother god, like on the night of black knives, and he is terrified of the consequences of our actions.
