I think downvotes being removed is kinda funny, my opinion is quite close to @kam 's.
if you post something shitty or you're dramafarming, what do you expect? also, rep doesn't really mean much of anything on here, and the argument of "mod's have to see something with 5 downvotes" is kinda not on the users but on the administration themselves for even adding that as a feature.
if I reply with a thumbs down or with a reply expressing my dislike of hate of something, how is that any better than down voting?
and the "targeting individuals" thing is a fair point, but you have to stop and ask yourself, "what did they do to be 'targeted' so to speak, are they doing something to piss others off?" and yeah, maybe someone might downvote some modain topic due to them being bigoted or something, but I feel like that's a separate issue.
at the end of the day though, are downvotes really that serious, or are we being overdramatic about numbers on a screen.
