Does anyone know a good wiki site? I want to be easier to track workarounds and compatibility of different sites with the Switch browser

If you've visited this site recently on a PC or phone, you'll notice that we've added ads to help keep the site running. There's a lot of them though and they're annoying!

So if you join this group: https://browsedns.net/groups/hide-bdns-ads these ads they will not load while you're signed in. Please feel free to join.

(This does not affect the DNS itself blocking ads on other sites, mentioned in another topic. I'm still working on that! The group is only for the forum.)

Maybe we should get a more formal list of sites / a wiki for documenting which ones work well and whatever workarounds are needed

Just echoing what Maribitt said, it’s not recommended and please don’t feel pressured to do so. There’s no rule explicitly against it though.

I'm considering implementing full ad blocking of popular ad domains at the DNS level due to potential lag concerns.

Please report here if any sites that you frequently visit are really slow / bad with advertising on the Switch/PS5/etc!

If there are some sites that have a lot of ads, I'll try out blocking them for a bit, and then you can report back if the site gets better or worse.

I removed them as some users had been engaging in targeted downvoting of all posts from another user, and I didn’t like downvotes enabling that kind of thing.

It is a serious topic, which is the point of the phrasing in the rules. It shouldn’t be discussed lightly or even often. However, the ban that was made in this context was still too much.

Users here should be comfortable venting and seeking support from others, but if it does cross that line, our response should be more along the lines of warning/locking threads and linking to resources, rather than banning.

Welp, I'll disable these soon, that's annoying about the performance impacts.

The server crashed and rebooted 16 hours ago, and LaneChange (the service that redirects DNS requests) was down. Should've caught it earlier and sorry for inconvenience. Will set it up so that there's a back up redirect in case this service goes down again.

@eepy-kirbo I've covered those kind of power strips lights with tape/stickers before, and that works pretty well. Used to have a similar problem.

On PS5 you can do a side by side mode with the browser on the left/right and gameplay on the other side. This can almost be used comfortably for like strategy or trophy guides, but in practice it's really confusing to switch between and control the two views.

Sadly as others pointed out, the DNS browser explicitly has video playback blocked. There are some workarounds for Facebook and Google Drive, but the access is really limited.
