ive found a problem that will forever be painful to my soul

nikolais whole purpose as a person is to prove he has free will and can do what he likes
his whole identity is being free from the grip of his own emotions
but
thats the problem
he wants to be free
he longs for it
wouldnmt that mean hes following his urge to be free??
its quite tragic really

the one thing he wants from life
he can never truly get it
by killing fyodor to prove he has free will, he proved that he listens to what he wants
and at the end of s5 when hes all sad about fyodor dying, it really hurt me cuz it wasnt even for a reason
he killed his best friend to prove free will and proved that free will was unacheivable in the process

its quite a tragic and theatrical ending form sutch a dramatic character
