Actually, it's possible! there is an option to do so I think.!

When you try to purchase an item and click "credit card" or "Available Funds" and click on the options to add to your total, if you do it right you should see the last 4 digits of your card that is saved and if you want to change the card number you click "Use Another Card".
If none of that works you can call Nintendo and ask.
