Typing Quirks

@Yanderemenhera im not ghosting a friend bc they type weird-
@sighniu no, it's not on you lol, that statement was directed tords the hypothetical person tryna message you, why even message someone if they don't know what it says. it'd be like if I started typing in hexagonal code to @spamburger on discord and they had no idea what they was looking at

So I've seen many different users use things like numbers or special characters as letter substitutes for speaking. This isn't problematic, however it could be significantly harder to read for those with reading disabilities. So, if you'd like to type like that, I think it's fair to require translation at the end for those born with issues reading. Ex: 3x@mp13 // Example. I would like opinions on this rule in the comments before implementation
@NightmareWolfie I like the idea I don't think it should 100% be like you have to but I do think if someone ask you to stop (primarily in shoutbox or any other public area) if it's actually causing an issue that's when it gets to the point or like if any staff is trying to talk to you Abt an issue and they ask you to stop etc that's when I think it should be enforced cause it someone random can't read what you're typing in shoutbox that's really not that bad and shouldn't affect the person typing unless there's something serious going on and it turns into an actual issue

@NightmareWolfie I don't understand why people type like that. There's no appeal, especially if it's a serious situation. Like, if I said my dog died, I don't want someone on the internet to say something like "0MG 1M $0 $0RRY +0 H3AR +H@+." However, I will not be one to judge.

In my opinion (not saying it's fact) I think 'typing quirks' are really annoying and surely are just harder to type out anyway, let alone understand. I think they make people look like they're trying to be 'different' and uh- 2020 core (We all cringe for that one </3)
@Aries oh no i used a number instead of a letter now im cringe

Yeah, glad you got the gist

Let me think on this and I'll make a post later.

maybe we just leave it as typing quirks are fine, BUT if you're in DMs and someone asks you to stop typing like that (obviously if your keyboard is broken or something you don't have to do so) you just type normally, doesn't have to be enforced, it can just be something you do to be a decent person, like, there's no rule against flooding my DMs with the most flashy, bright, strobe light GIFS you can find; you'd just not so you don't give me a seizure.
@Yanderemenhera That doesn't help dyslexic people, the entire point of suggesting this rule was to make it so everyone can understand the texts regardless of reading capabilities. It is significantly more difficult for a dyslexic person to read texts with a bunch of symbols than it is a normal message. And dyslexia is only one example of a reading disorder. Also to some folks I've seen them complain about it so this would help both communities simultaneously. Marking it off in DMs is only one thing, you should be able to use it in DMs if the other person is okay with it, this is a rule for public usage. The argument against accommodating for random people is one thing, but it's also resulted in some unnecessary drama which this rule would also fix. Also it doesn't really trouble those people, simply makes them easier to understand. If you want to use a typing quirk it shouldn't take much to add a translation

@NightmareWolfie yeah, that's right. I myself struggle to read that stuff and maybe the translation thing might be nice, i'm just not used to being accomidaited in anyway and it feels weird to ask for it. but I think you explained it really well, thank you
