i've had a hard time finding like, reduced motions stuff on the chrome web store, I know that things like gifs are added to bios and signatures which is not an issue but it's not a pleasent thing for me, I don't want to quit using browsedns obviously. so like, does anyone know of a browser extension or something I could use to turn off gifs and random stuff?

1. Use the OS-Level “Reduced Motion” Setting

   Windows: Settings → Accessibility → Visual Effects → Turn Show animations in Windows off.
   macOS: System Preferences → Accessibility → Display → Enable Reduce motion.
   Android/iOS: Accessibility settings → Reduce Motion / Reduce Animations.
   When enabled, Chrome respects the prefers-reduced-motion media query, which many websites and extensions honor by pausing or minimizing animations.
2. Browser Extensions to Block or Pause Animations
   While Chrome doesn’t have a single official “disable GIFs and animations” toggle, several extensions can help:
   Gif Jam / Disable GIFs: Blocks auto-playing animated GIFs.
   Animation Policy (by Chrome team): Controls CSS animations, giving options like “Allow once” or “Disable all animations.”
   uBlock Origin or AdBlock Plus: Custom filters can block GIFs, video embeds, and auto-playing elements.
   These work by either stopping GIFs or preventing CSS/JS animations from triggering.
3. Chrome Developer Tools Temporary Overrides
   If you just want to test or temporarily reduce animations in Chrome:
   Open DevTools (Ctrl+Shift+I / Cmd+Option+I on Mac).
   Click the three-dot menu → More tools → Rendering.
   Scroll to Emulate CSS media feature prefers-reduced-motion and set it to reduce.
   Note: This only lasts while DevTools is open, but you can detach DevTools to keep the setting while browsing. I HOPE THIS HELPS

@Innocent ok so I always have reduced animations turned on in settings, idk why it doesn't work on here, but I downloaded a gif blocker and i'm going to try to set it up

I got a chrome extension and it works well! thank you @Innocent I also looked into developer settings and stuff

and the gif things are hidden behind a black bar if you were curious as to how it looks
