    1. Do the thing daily to practice, if possible.

Edit/Clarification: It's actually really harmful advice to just "practice" all of the time, it can result in being stuck in tutorial hell or just feeling like you're not making much progress. It's better to actually do the thing you are practicing for because you'll learn more and actually be more motivated to keep going. Still use tutorials for new concepts and to learn though, but always do the thing by yourself after the tutorial. Otherwise, you'll be learning how to practice/follow tutorials instead of actually doing the thing you want to do. For example, actually try to create and finish the projects you want to create as an artist, musician, or programmer, etc. and only use tutorials if you get stuck or are learning something for the first time.

    1. You will absolutely suck at doing the thing at first. Pretty much everyone who has gotten good at thing practiced, if they say they didn't they're a goddamn lying liar traitor or practiced similar skills (practicing drawing to being already good at pixel art, for example). The trick is to just not get demotivated and focus on how much you got better compared to yourself the last time you practiced.

    2. Compare yourself to other people... only to develop a set accurate standard of what's "good" that you aim to achieve. Remember step 2 at all times while doing this step. Like, if you like game dev you should 100% compare your games to games that you like or if you like art you should 100% compare your art to art you like. Remember step 2 though.

    3. Separate your value as a person from how well you're currently doing in thing. If you don't, then it's impossible to be self-critical and actually improve because you'll actually be emotionally hurt if someone thinks your work is bad or if you think your own work is bad, leading you to ignore feedback or opportunities to get better at thing in favor of ignorance from those feelings. Be more proud of being able to improve than the appearance of already being perfect/good enough at what you do. I could also go into an entire rant about how pride is literally the root of all evil but that'd be way too long and derail the whole post.

    4. Repeat step 1

@TH4TTR4N5F3M_VA Eventually i guess, you can build up a resume by creating really cool stuff by constantly improving outside of whatever industry you're trying to break into. The job market still kinda sucks though

Plus, if you get a job interview (or audition) it should be easier to pass whatever tests are there if you're better at what you're interviewing for. Otherwise, passing a unfair job interview is another skill.... (there are also some separate learnable skills in passing a somewhat fair job interview)

I obviously have zero experience looking for a job (yet) though so idk
