its mad annoying and terrible for engagement bc it takes attention from new post
if you see a cool topic from a year ago just make a new post thats the same topic but dont drag these dead post TvT
i feel like we shouldn't be able to reply to topics that are over two weeks old, or have punishment for repeated necroposting (one necropost every 14 days)
everyone brings up a dead topic every once in a while including me but its getting out of hand

No, as sometimes by doing that you can revive that topic, and sometimes that's better than reposting something else with the same topic. Also, not being able to post after 2 weeks doesn't make sense as some posts can keep traction even after those 2 weeks, so that just seems counterproductive if you just want to end post reviving.
@Nonbinary_wolf its usually worse for engagement then it is good for it bc most users see a old post and automatically dont wana engage with it (like ill see a interesting topic then see its from 2024 :skull:)

if its dead its dead, if its dead but someone fails to try and make it alive then you shouldn't pay attention to it and move on with your day

Reviving a topic is fine in my book, and can help engagement, my cool cat or ferocious feline thing got more than one text on it and I feel like posting the same topic is less convenient than just using an old one ya already found

I [censored] hate this engagement BS, I remember we banned shitposting bc it ''lacked substance'' but yet I had to post ''EnGaEmEnT pOsTS'' that were usually devoid of anything meaningful likee an enter post deticated to ''what energy drink is best'' it feels more like social media and less like a forum. sorry for the engagement rant, I just hate that and this isn't targeted tords anyone specific. I personally don't mind necroposts, epically since I just hate the engagement thing as a whole and think topics made for that are lazy asf. and i'd rather see a 4 year old post being replayed to this very day being given traction than an engagement post. genuinely hate those so much I prefur BCV replying ''canida'' to a 2 year old post than engagemet ones, epically if the topic is really good
