@maple how private is this? I remeber you worries with other texting websites and I do wanna ask if you can go in and see everyone's private messages or emails

@Yanderemenhera i think in theory, as the owner of the project, maple COULD see our emails if she wanted to, but i don't think she'd do that. she's chill. but also i have no idea, so don't smite me if i'm wrong!

@Yanderemenhera as a general rule of thumb for EVERY service you ever use - if you dont manually encrypt your own messages, assume they can be read in plaintext. even if the service claims to encrypt your messages, it could be weak encryption, it could be a lie, someone could place a keylogger, etc.
that being said, all sensitive user data is held hashed/encrypted. message data is stored plaintext in the database and its encrypted during transit. PGP end to end encryption (for full privacy) is available as an option (Mailvelope) in settings, however the nintendo switch doesnt support this and developing a new tool for end to end encryption, with the switch's limitations in mind, would be far too restrictive.
as a nontechnical response; messages can be read if i really wanted to do so. i will not, unless i receive a legally valid court order. one of my core values as a person is the right to privacy.

@maple ok, I was just low-key worried about you reading sensitive info, thank you so much though
