what is a furry?, explination. (tw: mentions of steryotypes)

furries are a fandom based around anthropomorphic "oc's" personally im making this to show those who disrespect and are unfamilliar with this fandom, to clarify this is speaking of me being in the fandom now and 5+ years, the fandom has gotten some steryotypes such as, (z00ph!les, abusers, p3d0s) but the fact is its the definition of "a few bad apples ruin the bunch" the main fandom is all diffrent people, just because someone is disrespected, dosent mean you can disrespect normal people, so lets get to the main topic:
what is a furry? : a furry is someone who "cosplays" or in the fandom known as "fursuiting\suiting" we go to conventions and give hugs or whatever and we make peoples days brighter, there are multiple reasons someone does this, myself i did this for the fact that i dont really like myself, this is the case for most people, this is an alternate personality a person can make to distort themselves from reality\the world around them. its a healthy coping mechanism aslong as it dosent become a severe disorder such as beliving you ARE the character.
what are other reasons?? : many people find it cute\they think its adorible to do, it can be your liking of dressing up\cosplaying as a anthropomorphic game character\doing conventions, or other things
common reasons people hate, (why im making this post) : they mostly believe the theory that furries are oversaw as a bad thing, or the fandom being very NSFW at times, there are many stories of others who have done wrong, but the fact is, we are just normal people who did this to escape our reality, life is hard, and we find it easier to display ourselves as a fun character we made. this is what a furry is
in cinclusion: we are just normal people living everyday life, we just decide to cosplay in a suit we or someone else made to display a characteristic we hide or are scared to show, we do this as mostly a coping mechanism or to just make peoples day, when someone sees a big blue wolf around that sticks its tounge out, some people smile and laugh, we want to be someone we cant in society,
WE ARE NOT BAD PEOPLE, WE ARE NORMAL, please respect us, as we respect you.

i made this because recently, i personally have been getting hate on other platforms and have been called names, just for being a furry. this is to help out whoever on here might be one, we are people too.

I think the costumes aren't worth the money, but it is just another way to cosplay. It's cute I guess
