it doesn't make you a shitty person to find a "stereotype" to be good rep and find them relatable despite everyone finding the character to be "offensive" like let's say I find Yuri to be good autism rep, but someone online says that while she is autism-coded her depiction is offensive and very stereotypical and doesn't represent people with autism very well. I think some people forget that with things like autism, it really IS a spectrum and just bc you think let's say Yuri isn't a good depiction doesn't mean someone else sees themselves in Yuri and is a good depiction of there experience with autism. I hear this sort of thing sometimes and it's honestly some of the most like, inflexible thing ever, like, can you stop and think that someone's experience is different than yours? isn't that a skill we unlock around 3-4 years old?
I here this debate on other things like yaoi and yuri (girl love, not the doki girl) and some gay men say they like yaoi and then other gay men lose there shit and it becomes a whole argument, I see this too with Yuri but to a lesser degree, but I think what's good representation can vary wildy from person to person and that's ok. if a gay teen boy likes heart-stopper it doesn't make him a bad person cuz another 14 year old boy doesn't like it cuz it's yaoi or if someone finds Yuri from ddlc good autism rep and you don't it doesn't make them a bad person.

tld;r people have different experiences and what might be "offensive" to you, might be the best rep for something someone has ever seen and that's ok. we all need to remember everyone has a different POV and to be nice to each other and not argue of stupid shit online.

@seal yeah, I know that i've seen a lot of people without the thing being represented "call out" things they think are offensive and that's another thing that just kinda urks me, like imagine if someone with the thing being represented is talking about how they feel seen and someone is like "now I am not/don't have this but- this is an offensive and stereotypical character, if you like them, you are a biggot and an idiot lacking media literacy"

if I were to talk about how I find like, nicolus cage in [censored]'s wonderland good autism rep, I would likely see someone without autism (I see more people without autism complain about stuff than people with autism) yell at me in comments about the depiction being incorrect or something else about how it's a white man and that offensive bc there's too little POC with autism in media and I should be highlighting that instead. of that he's not autistic irl so he shouldn't play an autistic person in a movie and that in of itself is bad (all of these are real things i've heard btw, not that they aren't neccerally vaild criticisms) and honestly ATP I don't really wanna talk about who I find good rep in media on like, YouTube bc of how nasty people are in comments

@sweetpuddin we are alowed to swear, the censorship was implemented to prevent people from saying offensive words but it was poorly implemented and swearing and normal words that could even possibly be used in an offensive or like, nsfw way get censored regardless of context. like JΕRK if typed normally will be censored regardless of context
