what does curvy even mean anymore? (somewhat heavy themes and mentions of body-shaming)

I usually hear curvy used in place for word "fat" for example and the person being called "curvy" is well within a healthy weight range (like, let's say the woman whom is being bullied is 5'5 and 126lbs) and the women will make other passive aggressive remarks tords those women to the point now where I feel like that word is an insult and people would be mad if I used the word as a discripter for a woman.

for me, i'd use that term to describe someone who has a larger bust and hips but they have a smaller waist. their silloute would literally have curves in it. not as an insult or a replacer word for fat, not to say that people who fit into that definition are automatically healthy or anything like that. I just don't see why curvy has to be used as a stand-in for fat, if you're gonna call someone "curvy" nowadays in some areas and in some comment sections online, they'll assume you're hating on them.

i'd consider myself curvy, you're free to correct me or whatever, I genuinely have no clue my current weight but the reason i'd consider myself that is because I have a smaller waist and a larger bust/hips and I think my shoulders are a bit broad as well. I view the term "curvy" as a more netrual term to describe a body shape. it doesn't mean someone is necceraly over-weight/unhealthy. i'd assume I myself am overweight, but that doesn't mean that everyone who has a more, hourglass-ish shape is.

and I feel like another thing is, obviously we shouldn't be mean to people just for existing online, even if you think they are the human embodiment of pan scrapings from when you last cooked bacon, being catty to some randomass woman you saw on YouTube shorts posting about different types of flowers over her not being what you consider to be ideal is stupid and honestly just really fυcking sad bro, and most of the time the people don't look big at all, a lot of the time I'll see someone say "you look hella well fed, slay plus-sized curve queen" to someone who is frankly on the thinner side and obviously no hate to skinny people ether at all, they frankly get body shaming too, a lot actually depending on the region. (like where I live.)

idk wtf is going on now, bc is the in recent months I've seen body-shaming and cyber bullying become more common and widespread and things like "healthy body btw"
"curvy" "well-fed" "top-heavy" and so on become nothing more than insults and it's really sad. and not to be that guy but I feel like a lot of the (usually women) users who post that in a passive aggressive way are insecure and are using this as a cope and it sucks for all the reasons I mentioned above but i'll recap:

this is just straight up cyber bullying and it's really damaging to have your body shamed to no end, you can change how you look, yeah? but sometimes this is pushing otherwise healthy people to do unhealthy things to try to curb the bullying.

this is kinda a reflection of how the people posting this sort of thing feel about themselves a lot of the time i'd assume and it's genuinely sad and I pitty them. it doesn't justify their actions though, not at all.

I believe a lot of issues aren't exclusive to one gender, but this I have noticed is common amoung women, body-shaming and cyber-bullying does happen amoung men and trans/non-binary folks but it usually looks different if that makes sense, men don't usually have curves the way women do and their bodyshaminng is usually over things like being skinny and not a shredded beefy gigachad sigmamale. and for trans/embys it's usually just gender dysphoria related.

also, there's a wide range of medically healthy weights you can be, health should be your top priority in life and not some random b!tch's opinion. always talk to your doctor about things like your weight if you are worried, you can also use BMI calculations online, a website will ask your age, weight, gender, and height and tell you if you'd be medically considered over-weight or not, but seriously, talk to your doctor if you're worried^^^ (minor disclaimer, BMI isn't the most accurite marker for health, but it's still decently useful, most doctors still use it to this day)

I can agree, I would say you are curvy. I am around 5'6 and 115 lb. But I am smaller in the waist then the top and hips. Thats hourglass, right? (Which you already know you are) respect for this post btw, that's a lot to type
