They say itâs incurable. That this is going to stay with me for the rest of my life; until the day I die. How am I supposed to react to that? Am I supposed to accept this, and continue living my life as though everything were okay?
My parents are next to me, bawling their eyes out. Iâm sitting there, my expression blank as I hear the doctor rant about how this is going to possibly kill me before I get to experience life.

âHow can you call them your best scientists if they canât make a cure?â I interrupt, my eyes blankly staring at the desk as my hands start to nervously fidget with the other.
âExcuse me?â
âTheyâre your best scientists, no? Then why canât they make me better?â
âTheyâre not perfect.â
âThen just call them normal scientists. Thereâs no reason to over exaggerate and call them something theyâre obviously not.â
âIâm not going to allow this amount of disrespectââ
âThen Iâll find myself another doctor that will actually try to save my life.â On that happy note, I stand up and run a hand through my thinning hair, a deep sigh escaping me as I realize I donât have long before I move on to the afterlife.
Is there even an afterlife?
I shake my head, rattling the wild thoughts in my brain before walking out of the disgusting, pale room where I just received my death sentence.
Is this it? Am I really going to die? What am I supposed to do? Silence fills my brain as I ask myself that overwhelming question. Then, an intrusive thought hits me like a freight train.
