you can use it but when you try launching a game or any software it just locks up and shuts down, another quirk is that if you reboot it it doesnt reboot, it just shuts down

Heres what i found. You can use a Pandora battery to unbrick PSP 1000 if yours has a soft-bricked system. When you insert a Pandora Battery into your PSP, it forces the PSP to enter Service Mode. It bypasses the NAND and allows the PSP to load the Initial Program Loader (IPL) from the Magic Memory Stick

Can you load umd's on it still and if you can how far can you get into the game before it crashes or glitches out. if yo you are playing the game and it crashes during the level or race depending of the game. have you checked the memory stick and the hard drive of the console if you try to get that fixed(your choice) and it still doesn't work than i dont know what to do next but ill keep thinking and i will try to get back to you asap.
