Well it isn't horrible, it's just made mostly for mobile players and kids, a lot of the more player made features like using fireworks to fly with an alytra don't work as well .. Java and Bedrock are both good for different types of players, but the main problem is that Mojang might get rid of Java (FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD) so more serious players want Bedrock to be more like Java for when that happens!
