@Andyboi my first guitar was a birthday gift from my aunt i was 17 i went to guitar center to buy a "real" guitar but they were all too expensive and my mom didnt want to committ to buying me one just for me to turn around and say "its too hard" or give up on it so my aunt found a cheap 40 dollar one off Amazon it wasnt perfect but served its purpose it was a vizacaya guitar came with all the basic stuff you need a cheap vinyl bag (that eventually tore), extra strings, capo, picks, tuner, pick guard, pick holder, pitch pipe, and a strap it was a classical acoustic not the new ones you see today i loved and hated that guitar i had to work hard to make it sound good eventually i modded it a bit giving it a new bridge and nut i named it "charmed" cause it had alot of quirks eventually i was able to upgrade to my new guitar i own rn a donner acoustic electric its perfect one day i'd like to upgrade again get a new acoustic and then my first electric i'll prob get a donner electric they make good budget friendly instruments anyways the point im making is it doesn't matter where your instrument came from or if its cheap as long as it plays well and sounds decent enough for you to use your good to go one day he can upgrade and its awarding in a way at least to me trying to make a shit cheap instrument sound like a million bucks @magooty0117 (not saying yours is shit or cheap mine was ) you prob actually got a good guitar if its from market place mfs be giving alot of good stuff away yapathon over meow <3

@Andyboi you can always do substitution chords for them thats what i did for like a year untill one day it just clicked and i was able to barre now i find myself choosing them over normal chord positions 1 because of sound/tone difference and 2 because sometimes it easier to play the barre in the song than the normal chord if the normal has a weird position also for electric players its easier to barre cause less tension and lighter strings something like that so once you can barre an acoustic when you switch over to an electric it should be a breeze
