an important aspect of recovering from self harm is harm reduction. many people try to jump straight to harm prevention which can lead to a medical emergency. before trying to prevent self harm (e.g, by taking away blades), you must first reduce the level of harm in the first place by learning first aid, when and how to get help, and obtaining supplies to treat your wounds.

i think in an effort to make this forum more inclusive and accessible for disabled people, i think we should establish firmer rules regarding how users communicate and how the forum operates.

for the most part, its pretty good! i especially like the customizable forum themes, which can assist and add contrast for those with color/vision issues. however, the usage of complicated linguistic quirks can be extremely difficult for those with narrator tools/screen readers and reading issues (e.g dyslexia) to understand.
for example: "th15 i5 4n 3x4mp13 53nt3nc3"
i propose a rule to at least have users include a translation in a small readable font if they choose to use typing quirks like these. that way, forum content remains accessible to disabled people, and users can still type with their "typing quirks" however they want to.

many users expressed difficulty understanding complex typing quirks in the past, i think itd be beneficial.

guys this post queue sucks. im going to outline why we should remove it and implement a better solution.

so first, lets cover why it was implemented to begin with. staff said its because theres many unconstructive posts and that it may discourage users from interacting.

that may be true to an extent - but what else will discourage users from interacting? restricting their ability to post. thats the whole point of a forum, to limit that is to limit the activity of this forum.
i dont believe the root cause of this forum inactivity is unconstructive posts. i think the root cause is constructive post incentives. think about it - if the forum has unconstructive posts without anyone incentivized to make constructive posts, what will happen when unconstructive posts are restricted and only constructive posts are allowed, yet still no incentives to make constructive posts in the first place?
the forum will die. thats what will happen. the root cause of this inactivity is the lack of incentive for a "constructive" discussion.

so how do we fix this?
frankly, i dont know. its tough to incentivize people into having a genuine discussion regarding a constructive topic. but even though i dont know how to fix it, i know that this isnt the right solution.

staff, please remove the post queue or at least try to fix the root cause.
if you disagree, please let me know why, i genuinely want to learn and try to contribute to this forum.

since switch users are unable to easily access most email providers, @Yanderemenhera and i searched for working email providers. here is a list of email providers confirmed to work on the switch. these have been tested by yours truly :3

GMail Mobile

many switch users attempt to login to regular gmail, but its resource-intensive. the mobile version of gmail works well with low resource consumption.

its a popular email provider (you probably have an account already), however it may require you a phone number or alternative email address to login/signup, which may not be possible in your situation.

Eclipso Mail

a less known email provider, yet it works for switch users. it doesnt require an alternative email or phone number for signup, and its free.

be warned, it is supported by ads, so it may be a little irritating.

Mailinator

for exceptionally desperate circumstances, mailinator is an option. it basically allows you to freely create any @mailinator.com email addresses, however there are no passwords, so anyone can view anything. so if you use this, choose a very unique email address, or ideally just use gmail or eclipso.

this is a brief update on T4A's development of tools. for those who dont know, Tools4All is a project created by me to provide easier and more accessible tools for people (especially on limited devices, e.g nintendo switch). currently we have a free and accessible email provider, learn more at https://t4a.tech/

first, thank you all for the support! im so glad people are making use of the email service. in the coming week, i plan to release our next tool: Phonemail, an easy and convenient way to text phone numbers without an actual phone. after that, i will be working on the development of Webputer: a virtual computer that lets you browse any website, watch videos, and play games.

i'd also like to encourage anyone to offer suggestions, criticism, ideas, and support!! i want this to be a useful project that everyone will benefit from. are there any particular tools that you want to see? any quality of life improvements?

a while back i made a post about vulnerabilities and security issues with TextEm.net. in summary, a user's texts, login information, and their privacy as a whole can be exposed to everyone extremely easily.
i really dont think its a good idea to add TextEm to the new landing page's quick links. it puts a false sense of trust into TextEm because an admin promoted it.

apologies for slow development, i've been traveling and moving to new place, so havent had much time to dedicate on T4A, but thats changing now :D

first, Webputer (virtual web computer) is being renamed as i just don't like how webputer sounds Dx. i was thinking Web-box, but if anyone has any other ideas, please please please tell me! for the sake of consistency, it will continue to be referred to as webputer throughout these posts until a final name is decided.

second, webputer has been in heavy development and nearing public release. so far almost all of the backend is finished, the frontend is being finalized, and i need beta testers to ensure its compatible with the switch. since i've moved from home, i no longer have my switch and cannot debug or test on my own.

Beta tester requirements

• must have either Switch 1 AND/OR Switch 2
• must be descriptive when describing errors, issues, bugs, AND/OR have a separate device (e.g phone) to take a photo of any bugs you encounter.

You will be paid!

each tester will receive $20 in your preferred method, be aware that most gift/prepaid cards are U.S-centric:

• most major gift cards (example: roblox, nintendo eshop, steam)
• cryptocurrency of your choice
• prepaid debit cards (visa, mastercard)

if you are interested in volunteering as a beta tester, please reply or dm me, i will only choose a few testers. make sure you include what type of switch you have (Switch 1 and/or Switch 2).

another huge problem with it is accountability. if ai malfunctions, whos at fault? the human isnt in control so not them. and to prove the ai company is at fault, youd have to prove negligence in the software which is much MUCH harder than proving another human caused a crash

its genuinely hard to believe staff implemented these new features in production, without testing efficiency, bugs, edge cases, etc...

i wanted to write about some security issues which many forums suffer from and have yet to be fixed. this isnt a callout post or anything, i just find it interesting. any details on specific forums, vulnerabilities, or specific software will be redacted until its fixed.

quite frankly, forum security - like any other types of security - SUCKS HORRIBLYYY. there is a large forum vendor which is riddled with vulnerabilities, to give you context here are vague summaries of the vulnerabilities ive found in certain forum software:

1. broken access control: any moderator, without the right privileges, is able to see user's data which should only be limited to admins.
2. any user is able to grab another user's ip address, without any interaction or alert.
3. any user is able to upload files which are prohibited.

keep in mind, i only spent like.. an hour or two, doing a basic audit of the web interface part - i didnt even disassemble and decompile the binaries for potentially more serious vulnerabilities. and ofc, i reported all vulnerabilites to the vendor (which they claim they reply and triage within 24 hours - but its taking weeks :sob:)

the point is. uhhhm. there is no point, just be careful online.
