ive been working on a free texting site phonemail. however i came across an issue of sms carriers shutting down sms email gateways which severely limits my phone texting coverage .... im currently doing a plan B, which might be a little more costly and time consuming, but ive been working on it ! ^^

@trashghoul yes it was briefly down for maintenance; i've upgraded the servers so it should be a lot more reliable and quicker from now on!

@SweetLikeTarmac ah i see. then your time zone among the list is GMT -06:00 America/Chicago. GMT and UTC are effectively the same time zone.

@SweetLikeTarmac weird, what is your current time zone? (or if youre unsure, then the region of the world you live at). ill look into it

@ev.sebastian when composing an email, you can enable the "return receipt" option, which will let you know if they see your email. be aware that it asks the other person for permission.

@SweetLikeTarmac odd. to be clear, you can change your time zone by going to settings -> preferences -> user interface -> time zone. all time zones should be available on the list, if you are unsure then choose the location closest to yourself. typically it automatically finds your time zone though.

this is a brief update on T4A's development of tools. for those who dont know, Tools4All is a project created by me to provide easier and more accessible tools for people (especially on limited devices, e.g nintendo switch). currently we have a free and accessible email provider, learn more at https://t4a.tech/

first, thank you all for the support! im so glad people are making use of the email service. in the coming week, i plan to release our next tool: Phonemail, an easy and convenient way to text phone numbers without an actual phone. after that, i will be working on the development of Webputer: a virtual computer that lets you browse any website, watch videos, and play games.

i'd also like to encourage anyone to offer suggestions, criticism, ideas, and support!! i want this to be a useful project that everyone will benefit from. are there any particular tools that you want to see? any quality of life improvements?

just wanted to let you all know to be careful with those texting sites. i used them before and discovered several major security problems and i dont recommend them.

however - i do know of a way to email phone numbers using an email-sms gateway. i can look into implementing a ui for you all to use it safely.

yes!! you can use it to sign up to sites, contact people, whatever you want ! (except spam or commit crimes)

ive been thinking of solutions to solve this issue. as part of my Tools4All project, ive been planning and prototyping a site which would allow a user of any device to essentially "borrow" a virtual computer as if they were really sitting in front of a pc. they can download files, browse the web (including gmail, discord, etc), watch videos, and more. this is taking a lot of work but i have a bit of progress on it so far and a lotta hope. wont be ready any time soon though x.x

@Yanderemenhera contact with mainstream email providers would absolutely be allowed :D only problem would potentially be your emails landing in the spam folder - but i have a couple ideas to fix that
