  • My utter writing talent
    spamburgerundefined spamburger

I'm bored, so I decided I'd put down my extra short story garbage I wrote like a year ago, the 11 is because this is part of a series of work, and I found it very amusing to write around 17 stories about random things

If this topic is ignored, I shall promptly delete my account

    (11)The Farmer's Daughter

The farmer was a large, bulky man of some seventy-four inches.
His hands were ten inches long, and six inches wide, and he could [censored] a whole field in the blink of an eye. His daughter was similar to him. She was some seventy inches, her hands were nine inches long, five inches wide, and she could consume an entire carrot in the [censored] of a mouth. They got along well until one fateful day when his hands fell off. This wasn't particularly interesting, besides the fact that he could not click them back on as usual. He carried them inside, and he showed them to his daughter.
"Paw," she said, "can't ya' jus' click 'em back on agen?"
"No dearie, no can do. Listen 'ere."
There was a dreadful crunch as he attempted to stick his hands back in place. The farmer's daughter was appalled. Now her paw couldn't [censored] the fields, couldn't read her bedtime stories. So she had to work on her own, and this solitary work was grueling. Her paw was not the same as usual, and he often sobbed in devastation at being unable to work the land any longer.
One day, while she hoed the fields (it took her two blinks of an eye), she saw a strange mystic bottle, casually sitting in the shade. The farmer's daughter squinted her eyes, and read.
"The specialty glue, gets all parts moving" so she decided her paw would be fixed, and she raced home, where her father lay, stretched out on a sofa.
"Paw!" she yelped, "I found a mystic bottle 'ere!" Her father stood up, quickly, his eyes full of confusion and disappointment.
"Dag nab it, girl. You weren't to ever find that bottle."
"You don' wanna be well, paw?"
"Heck no! I hate them fields!"
"well, Paw, I gotta fix you up!"
"No sirree! I aint gonna go back to workin' the land, nor nothing lak that. No sirree!"
His daughter paid no heed to his definite answers, and grabbed the glue. Her paw began to run, and they raced about the house, until he quit the house, ran into the fields, and he churned up the land quicker than he ever hoed it.
From then on, the farmer's daughter chased him out into the fields every day, and all was well again.

  • Why are we romanticizing depression??
    spamburgerundefined spamburger

    @Aries
I would agree largely with this but with some nuance.
I’d say some people don’t have access to the medical assistance needed to fully diagnose themself, (mainly on this site in particular) yet it would be somewhat stupid to deny what most obviously exists if they exhibit many tell-tale signs of a disorder.

I would say I have many of the signs of such an issue, and I do think it’s not central enough to be a main thing I speak of, but it does effect me, as it severely reduces a lot of motivation to work, and to do anything really at times.
That’s my subjective view on the issue.

There’s a fine line between being “performative” and genuinely just trying to understand yourself without professional help.
Something I entirely agree with is this; no mental illness/disorder is ever “fun” or “quirky”, it’s an issue that requires extra effort, and stress to live through each day. It is decreasing quality of life.
So when people make their entire personality about their depression it begins to seem strange.
I think it is possible (being entirely dismissive is exactly what isn’t wanted, so many people are invalidated) these people have depression, but using it unrealistically as an excuse to have attention-seeking and/or disruptive behavior is pretty noticeable, and this is something that is never alright.

Do not start this again. I suppose I will have to lock the topic. If you have any complaints take it to mods, or deal with it privately.
Any of this “you wouldn’t say this irl” goes both ways, all ways.
If you dislike someone, block them.
If they say anything breaking any rules, report them.
    Nothing requires arguing.

  • Why are ppl STILL using generative AI 💔
    spamburgerundefined spamburger

@seesaw This is a very good writing, and yeah, AI agrees with everything- it has even encouraged criminal/suicidal behaviors, causing actual death.
I have first hand experience of incorrect people using AI for validation, and this causes actual issues, such as an unnecessary boost of confidence in misinformation.
I know someone who took art in college, and was very bothered by the 'AI art', which people used when they were too lazy/stingy to get a real compentent artist, and this person wrote a multiple page essay which covers the points you've brought up, so I'm very interested.
It's my opinion that AI use should be limited to numbers, summaries, and small tasks. People misuse AI, and AI has no actual morals, so it is all up to the people...

I think the most talkative people online are more introverted irl. It applies to me at least, and for another thing, introverts are slightly more common overall.

  • does anyone make music?
    spamburgerundefined spamburger

@Eggyz999 You just need to learn simple chords in all keys, learn about time signature etc, which I think comes with learning piano. Really, you just need a bit of music theory, like what chord would go along with a specific single note. Knowing about all of the different keys would also be helpful. The most common time signature is 4/4, which means a quarter note = 1 beat, and there are 4 beats in each measure. The most basic key is C major (because it requires no sharp or flat notes). So I just recommend studying up a bit, and you'll have a clearer direction in general.

  • Who started racism
    spamburgerundefined spamburger

    @Jujub_811
People have things against many people, this isn’t just race. People have always wanted to find outsiders.
If everyone is inside a circle, there will be a new outside if you see what I mean. If everyone is rich, nobody is.
To have hate in common, and people to sneer at is something humans have been doing for a long while. It makes the haters have something in common with all the other haters, makes them feel included in a group that is “better than the rest” (like supremacy)

When people enslaved people, it was helpful for them to find a reason to make these people less human. Less money paid, less guilt for treating these slaves wrong. It’s a mix of the human selfishness and instinctual wish for survival that contributed to having slaves and removing guilt for how morally wrong it is.

Like during WWII. Jews aren’t a race, but an ethnicity. They are different based on this grouping they were put into by words and a few different features. This surely wasn’t the main reason for the hate and crimes done against them. It was only because of the words that grouped them, and the different lifestyle. And it was because people have hate in their hearts.

When people aren’t doing well in life, there will be an almost desperate attempt to find perpetrators, find the cause of WHY they aren’t as happy or rich as they’d wish.
To accept the numerous reasons that aren’t black and white, and to accept one’s own impotence, is a blow to anyone’s self worth, the treasured ego.

Once you are looking for perpetrators, you have rewired your way of thinking. Viewing bad, looking only for malicious intent. The man responsible for the movement of hatred of Jews (and other groups) was really just creating a target for hate to be released, when before it was hate and anger radiating out of the people with no particular aim.

People always hate, but hate to admit they don’t always have reason, or that the reason is really just the unrestrained nature of people in power when morals are forgotten. So many little things can build to bigger. Little cultural differences, little physical differences.

People are [censored], people are ableist, people are sexist. There are always going to be groups that are hated, always have been.
I repeat that this form of hatred is NOT limited to racism. It’s all tied together, all from the same roots.

The only reason one might try to call it “skin tone” would be because they were raised with prejudiced people all around them, so that this color is tied in with the personality that they were told is bad. The skin and features are only a way to group people. It is not only the skin.

Why are people with a particular eye color never oppressed or hated for these attributes? Because that isn’t a particular group of people with a name smacked on them. As soon as people are labeled, they will be attacked based on this label, because labels are the beginning of objectification.

Perhaps I ought to be more optimistic though, maybe there will be a fix to these problems at some point in time.
Too bad I do believe this works like the Dunning-Kruger effect. Those uneducated to their own bias don’t know it exists, those who have blind spots can’t see what they are blind to.

All I have said is based on my own perspective, how I think of the issue. I believe racism is linked to psychology and not just events. Choices made by humans sprout from the mind so that is where I look.
