@questionoftheday Sometimes, the student has a good reasons to skip the day or days of school. It should not giving the student to add more days of school. Its important to catching up on assignments or homework on missing day or days of school. :-)

@questionoftheday I think your question is the problem. As for my answer I'd say it all relates to motivation, threatening more school against a chronically truant person wouldn't do anything if they could just skip it. "Oh boohoo, more days to skip". So instead of doing that, they'll throw ya in juvi, give fines, and threaten expulsion, that way both the parents and children have motivation to stay on top of it.
