sneaking suttle pride shit into a chritsation store and why I am so busy rn

so I make jewelry, I think a bunch of you guys already know this, it has more or less become my job, it takes up an insane amount of time. a Christian store (or at least its full of Christian stuff) allows me to have my stuff there right? I live in the bible belt, so I'm not exactly sure how well selling very blunt pride stuff would be, to test the waters a bit, I had a star necklace but it was the colors of the bisexual flag, nobody noticed. I make a lot of different jewelry, some of it is pride stuff. and to someone who doesn't know, a pink, yellow, blue star is just pretty colors. but I do feel bad, is this disrespectful? so uh yeah, if you were needing me and I'm not/wasn't there I appoligeze. I am busy with more than just this, but this is just a highlite ig

Yeah I’d say it’s not as much the colors as it is the intention. Not saying people shouldn’t express themselves, just that doing it in a place you know opposes it feels more like stirring the pot than anything. It’s kinda like putting metal music on blast in a library; you know it’s not the place for it, so it feels more like provoking than just expressing yourself. That’s just my opinion as a Christian.

i dont think its disrespectful because its technically just colors and its not explicitly lgbtq, but im not Christian so if actual Christians think its disrespectful then it probably is but everyone has different views and some Christians dont see lgbtq stuff as bad, and many ppl have different views on whether being gay is a sin or not so i dont think it is since its not explicitly a sin i think
Christians who struggle with being queer might actually appreciate a way to subtly express themselves tho
also being gay just isnt disrespectful, if someone has a problem with it its a they can go to a different store, its not like ppl are queer specifically to offend religions, even if they think its a sin they can just...not engage with it? another persons 'sins' arent their business and if the store isnt technically a Christian store anyway then its not disrespectful to have lgbtq stuff in the same space if its not done to internationally disrespect Christians

@_Izzy_ Expression is not disrespectful, but intentionally pushing your views in a place where there is the good possibility of someone not wanting to associate with that is. I think it’s just about being mindful of context. Why can’t we keep space for our own beliefs while also respecting others’? Everyone should have the freedom to live how they choose, just like the LG community wants that same freedom for themselves.

@_Izzy_ ok, hmo, in my defense I had no clue it was a Christian store until last minute, not everything I make is pride related but I do have a decent bit of pride stuff bc I was getting ready for a pride event, and I was tryna test the waters. I have seen a preast in a rainbow outfit preaching love thy neighbor at a pride even, and assuming someone doesn't like something based on religion is actually pretty fucked up of me, but I really wanted to see how that interaction would go, the store owner was actually pretty nice and ether knew and did not care about the bi colors or didn't know. I do feel kinda conflicted as I do live in the bible belt and it can be really fucking hard to know what's ok and what is NOT. and honestly maybe the store owners would't mind. but its really hard to ask, yk?

ALL 32 teams’ logos were ALSO shown in rainbow versions on social media. That’s all I have to say about this.

well, how do I handle this? stop selling things associated with pride outside of it, (and be the bitch who assumes they don't like that sort of thing based on religion, witch feels like making assumptions about someone's score on a math test based on what part of the world there from) or do I just do it anyway, and risk offending someone and be the prick who doesn't respect religion? I mean I’m Catholic (or at least raised that way, still Christian tho) and I’m also LGBTQ. There are plenty of Christians who are LGBTQ or allies. It’s not really disrespectful to Christians as a whole, but some denominations that are against it might see it that way. @Yanderemenhera just do it anyway, its not wrong at all and isnt offensive, if they dont like it, they just dont buy it and its a them problem, dont not do it out of fear of someone getting upset over something so unserious because what they think doesnt effect you and you shouldnt let it hold you back, if the manager is fine with it its perfectly ok!

It’s always good to be aware of other people’s beliefs, especially when it comes to religion and LGBTQ topics, since some denominations see it as sinful while others don’t mind.
