My problem with a 'mental health department'
-
The 988 hotline is TERRIBLE. From hearsay as well as my experience with them and the experience of friends, they don't pick up t'phone for ages and when they do, they often are disinterested/disengaged and will hang up. Either they reform themselves or a need for a new hotline arises.
@Melancholyyuga fr like when they call bck they have to say "Hello, Are you still alive?" Be quiet before I ask you tha- /j

I struggle with MY mental health too. I know signs of mental illnesses because I was diagnosed and struggle with them. SOIACW is not a ''professional'' mental health source. But we try. I've helped MANY of people on this site. SOIACW is a place to VENT. We listen and try to comfort.
And in my experiences of mental hospitals, hotlines and other professional sources, they didnt work. The hotlines didnt pick up and never texted or called back. My mental hopitals i went to were shit. They didnt help with ANYTHING.
Also, some people CANNOT afford mental health help or cant go to one. Now, I'm not saying that I Don't agree with some of these, Some of these are reasonable. But, We are here to HELP and LISTEN to people who want help. My mom used to be a psychologist for 4years before becoming a lawyer. She teached me lots of ways to help and comfort distressed people.

@Apollo.Is.Silly given the hell I've been thru with the US mental healthcare system, i can say You've actually done more for me than any therapist, asylum, and psychiatrist has ever, and ever will. that's something most people ignore, or just don't understand.
