i can relate to this. as someone that is on the spectrum myself. some people think i am stupid and treat me like a little kid. when i am not. i am a grown man. people need to get their facts straight

I really agree with personally growing up neurodivergent and disabled and being treated as if I'm stupid like I wish peole understood that disability or autism comes on a spectrum and even if you fall on the line of where you can't do basic skills it doesn't make you stupid

how i grew up i was treated like everybody else, no special treatment no nothing. people in my life want to put me on disability (basicly, i get money from the government) and put me into a grouphome program that will try to get me an apartment when im like 20. i don't like this bc i do not need it and this would take these resources away from those who need them more. i do have a physical disability that means i cant drive so i'd go on disability for that but not my autism. i don't need to go to a grouphome that'll teach me how to do laundry and like bathe, no offense but i genuinely do not need help, i actually hate help like that bc i makes me feel like everybody thinks im stupid. and then there's two groups of people with autism im afraid people will lump me in with,
1. people who do vile shit and its somehow ok.
like lolcows and other people who hurt kids, if you have the capacity to do something like that you have the capacity to take accountability you chomo.
2 the person who acts entitled online and will call you an abilst biggot for anything and everything.
it reminds me a lot of the people who see something like the horrific crime a trans person did to a Christian school and assume all lgbtq people are all monsters so end up becoming super homophobic, i think thats what some people think when they see those people and at this point i don't even wanna say im autistic bc of ts. all i've ever wanted to do is be treated normal instead of people babytalking me or taking advantage bc they think im too dumb to notice....

My sibling has been on the receiving end of this one with literal death threats in school from this one kid. Lovely school system had them in the same classes until just before winter break DESPITE a total of three death threats and him bringing a handful of bullets to school.
But regardless, I agree with everything you've said. I really hate being treated like I can't do things myself, or treated like I should be able to do things that I can't actually do. I'm definitely still young but I don't need to be treated like a primary schooler. -

i remember seeing something on yt, someone was saying its ableist and privileged to correct spelling. i don't see the issue tho! if i mispell something i'd want to be corrected on it, bc a simple mispelling could confuse people or make people think you mean something else. and, wtf are teacher's supposed to do then? like seriously bro.... people who act like that online embarrass the the hell out'a me and just annoy me to no end.

Holy shi this is obv the most agreeable thing i've ever heard, vro. whenever your known as autistic in middle school/high school that alone is the human equivalence as a death penalty but the penalty is genuine harassment from people atp shouldnt even exist anymre with there "Juicy Couture" type shi and the "Fake White Ghetto Culture" like i swear these niche ahh ppl would just come up to you and say "yo (insert name), are we friends" vro. you secretly said that i was to slow to comprehend that question. And whats worse of all is that whenever i take a little too long to solve a question i dont know, my class would be mad at my shi as if i chose the wrestle camp over the million dollars (spongebob reference btw)

as an person whos diagnosed with autism i could relate alot like sometimes the special treatment genuinely pmo if i dont need it at all ( my teachers always treat me like im 5 years old just because im different ) it sucks sometimes

i 100% agree with everything youve said meow. in school i was always treated differently and it only pushed me to be more isolated. i just wanted to add in my two cents on this statement here:

i get what you mean and i think if you genuinely dont want to accept help from programs/stuff like that, thats okay!! but this statement isnt quite true, in fact, its the opposite.
when local, state, or federal programs or nonprofits offer assistance to certain groups of people, 99.99% of the time it actually helps MORE to accept it. many people have the same mindset that accepting it means someone else wont get it. but accepting it means the program can say theyre helping more and more people, which in turn, gives them more funding to help more people who need it. this applies to many things, its generally helpful to boost their program's metrics so they can receive more funding.just my two cents, not trying to change your mind, but i hope this might encourage others to not feel bad about accepting assistance and stuff.
