sneaking suttle pride shit into a chritsation store and why I am so busy rn
-
well, how do I handle this? stop selling things associated with pride outside of it, (and be the bitch who assumes they don't like that sort of thing based on religion, witch feels like making assumptions about someone's score on a math test based on what part of the world there from) or do I just do it anyway, and risk offending someone and be the prick who doesn't respect religion? I feel like I become a shitty person either way
@Yanderemenhera just do it anyway, its not wrong at all and isnt offensive, if they dont like it, they just dont buy it and its a them problem, dont not do it out of fear of someone getting upset over something so unserious because what they think doesnt effect you and you shouldnt let it hold you back, if the manager is fine with it its perfectly ok!

@Yanderemenhera
I mean I’m Catholic (or at least raised that way, still Christian tho) and I’m also LGBTQ. There are plenty of Christians who are LGBTQ or allies. It’s not really disrespectful to Christians as a whole, but some denominations that are against it might see it that way. So yeah, not inherently disrespectful, but still something to be a bit careful with. (I could prob word this better but it’s late =w=)@Supie-Chan that's actually a pretty good point tbh, I do really appreciate this post, I was raised pagan (ik, never heard that one b4) not christian so I don't know much about it tbh

It’s always good to be aware of other people’s beliefs, especially when it comes to religion and LGBTQ topics, since some denominations see it as sinful while others don’t mind.

I say keep making your jewelry, but you could either disclose your intent or in this case, I would say it’s safe to assume that they don’t support that and just pick a different color
. Assumptions aren’t always a bad thing. Nothing to lose by playing it safe. You should post a photo of what you make when you get a chance, I’d be interested in seeing it <3 -

@Yanderemenhera I’m not a vip </3. If someone could hook me up tho… :D

Well it may not be disrespectful to all types of christians, but the largest denominations Western Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox are against lgbtq.
-
@Biblecampvictim can you have an interesting or nuanced pov for this?
@Yanderemenhera it's disrespectful to put something gay in a Christian store without telling them

@Biblecampvictim I agree with BCV, whether you view it as wrong to not be supportive of LGBTQ due to religion or not, you shouldn't enforce your beliefs on others. I'm all for pride but not everyone has to be supportive and you should tell the people running the shop what you're doing if you haven't already.

@NightmareWolfie if the store owners are fine with my jewelry, is it ok for me to keep it in there? but it could still be offensive to the customers ig, idfk how to accommodate to everybody properly. if I knew what ik now, I wouldn't have had my stuff put in there. I think I'm just going to make very neutral colored grandma-esk jewelry for that store or just stop selling there at ALL. but now I do feel nervous to sell period as I do live in the bible belt and my jewelry isn't all gay shit but it tipically is fairly colorful or has text on it referencing other media, like I had a zim and gir bracelet set I had put into there as well. and something like DDLC probably isn't super big on christians either tbh. I really I feel like a jerk for this tbh. I think my safest bet is to either exclusively sell at pride or some other fairly non-christain event, or try selling online but I'm a minor an most sites need you to be 18, but i'll see what I can do. I do deeply apologize to any christians who read this and felt offended.

@Yanderemenhera Well the store owner runs the business, it's up to them what's allowed to be sold, if they're good with it then you can just tell customers who get upset that you were given the greenlight, it isn't their business
-
If you find that morally grey just move your business, if you're making sales, the location probably isn't why anyway

@NightmareWolfie also, you can lock this topic if you think it'll get out of hand as it is sensitive subject matter.
