Obviously we know ai as the fruit love island stuff and people utilizing it for everything, but what are yalls opinions on the tech and stuff.

i dont like it but one time when i was going camping and my stepdad was driving and using his phone for maps and was USING CHAT GPT FOR MAP DIRECTIONS?!?!? We got lost and was 5 miles to far ...

I think the overall concept is cool things being created from thin air just from coding, but the resources it uses, and the jobs it has already stolen (and will continue to steal) is unfortunate and Disappointing :( I liked early ai, before it started animation, 3d art, 2d art, self programming, and other things. Now I try to stay away from it mostly

I think we need to make a distinction between Generative AI and AI that is useful for tasks & research.

The former is the problem that is causing environmental issues, and is generally useless. I would like to see Generative AI shut down, or, at the very least, its usage severely restricted.

The latter, however, is quite useful. It could help us achieve major breakthroughs in science, mathematics, etc. Obviously, we should not let it replace us, but, in moderation, I feel like AI could bring about excellent results as it would use several different approaches to further advance research.
Edit: I would also like to add that AI is great for general programming blueprints. I have a friend which owns a website, and they tend to use AI to program. Obviously, they check the code, fix issues themselves, and build upon it, but, I would say it saves time, and, if used properly, you can achieve pretty good results.

I dont use AI all the time but when i do its not always usefull. and i dont know the difference of generative ai and the tasks and research ai. so good to know!!
