why is communism bad
-
wait im confused what did i say that was wrong? isnt communism when the government pays everyone equally??? i dont get how thats capitalism, capitalism gives ppl control over the economy (and while big companies suck we the ppl have the choice to not give them our money and support small businesses thus WE control the economy)?????? did i misunderstand? how tf is that capitalism?
i think that communisim is dumb and unfair and more dangerous then capitalism, almost all communist governments are lowkey oppressive, and like i said equality isnt necessarily fair, ppl who work harder should get paid more and hav control over their own businesses and money
IMO americans who think communism is better then capitalism are silly and are ignorant to their privilege bc capitalism gives us a certain freedom ppl in communist countries dont have:p (it does suck for ppl who are poor tho but communism still isnt the answer)
(both OBVIOUSLY have their pros and cons but saying communisim is good feels rllllly ignorant, ESPECIALLY if your an American TvT)
i think welfare capitalism sounds cool bc the idea is that ppl get their basic needs but still have economic freedom i think:P so poor or
disabled or elderly ppl can still get what they need to survive
if it works well in practice i think its something America should try out -
For the most part i've heard that communism is mostly bad because it gives too much power to the government, since the government manages the entire economy, which allows the government to do a bunch of dumb stuff that a government probably shouldn't be able to do
edit: oh shoot why am I here this entire post is going to end so badly
Capitalism can also become bad or even worse for the same reason, when a single company has unregulated power or economic control over any industry.
@UnpaidIntern is this not close to what i said? TvT
(no shade im just confused as to why ppl disagree with MY answer) -

(no shade im just confused as to why ppl disagree with MY answer)@_Izzy_ idk, my best guess is that the original answer focused too much on things that most people don't really care that much about such as owning a business, being paid more if you work harder, as well as financial freedom overall tbh (i wouldn't really care much about buying and selling things if living conditions were somehow improved).
The OG answer also implies that capitalism pays people fairly based on how hard they work by making a point that communism doesn't (while still in the context of comparing capitalism with communism), which probably brought the whole answer down. Especially since many people rn (minorites, women, immigrants, or also unfortunately children if child labor is allowed in their country) are feeling the effects of being paid or treated unfairly under capitalism.
It also didn't mention the main issue with communism, that communism mostly depends on having a good government that won't exploit the fact that it has full control over the entire economy.
People (including me tbh) also assume that if you argue against anything without criticising the opposite of that thing, that you think the opposite is like perfect or something without any neutrality (i VERY quickly edited my reply to add how the way capitalism can be bad is similar to communism).

@UnpaidIntern oh, well thats dumb
anyways when i said it gives less financial freedom i was referring to the government thing since...thats the reason it gives less financial freedom, i just assumed i wouldn't have to write a whole essay for ppl to get that
plus the question was why is it bad and the government thing is bad bc it usually results in lack of freedom like i saidanyway thx for explaining what ppl may have thought!

communism isn't inherently bad. The execution will always fail, but the idea itself solves tons of the worlds problems. as would removing currency systems and using actual trades, but i digress.
-
its not; capitalism is tho and many people think capitalism is communism so theyll tell u communism is bad

@Shockrat true, the only real major flaw in the system is the fact that it doesn't factor in corruption and some people being just absolutely evil for no reason tbh. If everyone somehow had common sense, were less selfish, worked hard to improve their own lives and the lives of the people around them, and had basic human empathy at all times then the execution would probably work out (capitalism in this better world would also just end up becoming a redundant waste of paper, since most people would just help eachother out anyway), but wayyyyyyy too many people don't have any of those traits so the execution just always fails.
(forum requires at least 7 days to be able to upvote a post lol, so everytime I kinda agree with something I have to actually make a post)

I personally agree with Karl Marx's idea of communism.

I've heard a lot of things about it- just mainly that it works on paper, but not in real life, theoretically?

@Barbghibe yeah basically, although it's not just theoretically, i read that pretty much every irl large-scale application of communism has failed or is currently failing miserably (though that stat might include failures caused by outside intervention)
-
bc its unfair to the people who work harder then others and makes it way harder to own your own business and gives people less financial freedom
@_Izzy_ capitalism = financial freedom literally when

@brirightback I agree. Norway is a great example of this. Even though they are a capitalist economy on paper, they're a social democracy. They have a massive social wealth fund which is worth over a trillion dollars, I believe. The money comes from their vast oil and natural gas reserves, and it goes towards stuff like pension for the elderly, free university tuition, free universal healthcare, etc. They also have high taxes on millionaires and billionaires. Many Nordic and European countries also function similarly.

i dont think saying that most companies are owned by the same companies means we dont have financial freedom bc for every big company theres a smaller business tryna do the same shit its just that most ppl CHOOSE big companies for convince:p
(even things like social media that use stuff to train ai, sum person made basically instagram for artist after it started using ppls art for ai, another example is buyingfrom a family owned taco truck instead of toca bell or a farmers market instead of walmart)
obviously there are bigger companies that are harder to avoid bc they outcompete any smaller company (like eversource i think) but we CAN try to fight bck through boycotting or trying to find other alternatives its just hard, which all change is
i actually think that having ppl who are lower class/poor is inevitable, i think instead of trying to avoid that we should just raise the standard as for what that lowclass will look like (by providing basic needs somehow and distributing resources better bc we HAVE enough resources to make sure everyone in the country is atleast well fed) so even poor ppl can live decently and have a good chance at becoming successful
we ALSO have enough money to make every public school in the country WAYYYY better but instead we keep CUTTING founding when education and being well fed are kinda the most important things to succeed in life besides hard work TvTi dont know alot abt this stuff but i think capitalism is fine we just haven't perfected it and need to support eachother instead of big companies ofc its easier said then done:p
P.S i dont get what welfare being leftist has to do with anything, mb bc like i said im not too educated on this stuff but i feel like the labels dont matter (i could be totally wrong tho bc im ignorant to this kinda stuff)
