Are women more materialistic then men?

Hey yall, im doing a research paper on if women are more materialistic then men in western society. Personally, i think that society teaches and encourages women to be materialistic because alot of products are advertised to them and companies basically convince women that they need certain things in order to be beautiful or a "proper" women.
But i want to hear other opinions, do y'all think men are more materialistic? I plan to use your responses for my project and would like a variety of points of views and opinions!

I personally think the blame is equally distributed. Yes, the ideaology of owning things may be more marketed towards women in western society, however, I personally believe that men and women both fall victim to it. Have you seen the looksmaxxing bs? that's targeted towards men. Just saying lol.

@_Izzy_ its hard to say, I personally believe that both are. Ik people talk about things like ''pinktax'' and forget that it goes both ways, just depends on the product. both men and women are extremely matirealistic, sure, the argument could be made that a lot of women are making posts saying ''im just a girl'' when they are question about why the [censored] they spent 25K on bags and make-up, but men are honestly not any better themselves as a whole, instead of make-up, they are buying shit like peptides from there favorite looksmaxxing streemer. I think gen z as a whole is very materialistic and kinda sexist tords each other too (the sexesum goes both ways, not just evil woman say men should be kept alive solely to reporduce or a man saying women should't leave the goddamn kitchen) so i believe it's likely fairly the same across the board, its just men and women might be buying different things and they'll always accuse each other of being more materialistic bc for genz, we [censored] hate eachother and blame the oppiset gender for all our problems in life instead of taking responsibility for ourselves and our life as blaming someone else is easier

I also believe algorithms on things like tictok act as an echo-chamber and they exist to keep us online and addicted and advertisers will take advantage of this and I feel like someone who doom-scrolls a lot is more likely to buy something from the shop, and teens are fairly impressinable and are easily influenced to buy stuff from an influencer, wether it be make-up, or steroids. plus gen z is fairly politically devided as well. I think gen z has the worst consumption issue out of all generations as gen alpha is younger and doesn't have money to buy stuff and gen beta literally JUST spawned in.
