so i have a character inspired by the tanuki which is a common figure in Japanese folklore and i was doing research on them and i fell even more in love with them TvT

the tanuki is also called a racoon dog but theyre not related to racoons and are dogs, they live in monogamous pairs and can live up to 14 years, theyre vry fluffy and i want one right now:(

i wish i could upload a pic but i cant, theyre sooo cute tho and represent good luck in japan and the folk tales their in are always so sillyyy

i feel like the kitsune (fox) is a rlly popular yokai in Japanese media and the tanuki has a simular gimmick that i wish was used more id media, the comedic potential is so good plus theyre cuter

Pigs and meerkats :3

Pigs are seen as ugly, fat creatures but as a matter of fact they're quite intelligent. Also, I think they're really cute and my bus drives past a bunch every day. Meerkats are also really cute and funny, they're popular in zoos but I tend to not find them mentioned anywhere else :c

I really want a pet blood worm (not the larva of flies you feed to pet fish) they are usually sold as fish bait and have cute lil demigorgen mouths^^ they obviously eat meat, i'd only keep one bc I don't trust they wouldn't fight or caninballize each other

lil marine blood worms are adorable imo, I believe some guy on YouTube actually did keep some as pets
