Somebody told my school counselor about my home life without my permission.

I absolutely can NOT talk to adults, like, they genuinely scare me. I am so scared because what if she files a report? What if CPS comes and takes me and my sisters away and I never get to see my family again? I don’t know what to do. I’ve always been told by my mom that if CPS comes and takes me and my sisters away I will never see them or my family again. What if I have to move to a different school? Move away from everyone I know and everyone I actually want to be around? I really, really, REALLY cannot be doing this omg.

Now I’m gonna see her almost every second hour so she can check up on me but what do I even tell her?? “Oh yea, my mom yells at me and my sister every now and then and I haven’t been able to eat dinner or sleep well because the last fight that happened my mom and sister got into a physical fight! My step dad calls me a glutton for eating “too much” even when I eat almost nothing and my dad makes fun of me and my sister for eating so much at his house too! But don’t worry, I’m fine because I have my step mom who doesn’t drive, has a job, and has a newborn son! And did I mention she’s only 22?”

well, for a councelor (however the hell you spell it) You should be able to assume you can tell them anything, that's private. Like a therapist, but supposedly not, something related happened to me, so I get what you mean

@Jyatli Therapists and counselors do have to tell if u plan on hurting urself or others, k!lling urself or others, or if ur unsafe at home. That last one is something they tell the cops.

I am literally about to cry— the cops don’t listen. My parents will be on their best behavior for them but as soon as the authorities are gone it’ll get worse

I'm going to be honest, I was almost put into foster care last year, CPS doesn't give a shit in most states. they'll gladly make your life a living hell and threaten foster care with your parents and make them more angry and likely to abuse you, but I can almost garrentee you won't be put into foster care.

also, they usually don't give a shit about teenagers, it's not uncommon to see kids like 12-17 be told to just suck it up and deal with it bc "you'll be 18 soon" like, to the worse abuses imaginable I have heard that be said to other children.

@Yanderemenhera I don’t want to say, “ok good” but that really makes me feel better. But if my parents know or get contacted by police or CPS they’re gonna be like, “we are amazing! We don’t beat you or abuse you! You have pets, food, anything you could ever want! And this is how you repay me?!”

@french_fry_guy yeah, you're not wrong... the best you can do is try to keep yourself sane, stay out of the house as much as possible and be ready to hit the ground running the second you turn 18, in some states though you can get emancipated at 16, and you can move out and live alone at that point.
try to get a job if you can, it'll keep you outta the house and you'll have money for your expenses, if you have freinds a bit older than you, they can likely help you out if you can't legally drive yet due to your age, in my state you can start working at 14 for example but you can't get a lerner's permeant until 15 and drive without an adult when you turn 16.

it's a shitty situation, there's not a ton you can do, but especially if CPS/police come, you will really need to stay out of the house as much as possible.

even if you can't find a conventional job due to transportation issues or none will hire you because they hate teenagers or there's too much competition from grown adults who need a second part time job to make end's meat with their full-time job, you could do small odd jobs for random people in your area like painting houses or cleaning old garages for example

@Yanderemenhera I don’t know where I would go tho. I could live with a friend for a few weeks sure, but in all reality none of their parents need another kid. I would just be another mouth to feed and I don’t want to burden anyone. I do have upperclassmen that are my friends but idk if they could take me in. If I did that I would have to leave both of my sisters, and they need me. I know I’m not the adult but even then they need someone who can protect them.

I looked it up and I could be emancipated at 16, but idk how I would get stable housing or hell even a job

@french_fry_guy you're right. I mean, if it helps to think about you can take custody of your siblings when you're an adult. I guess until then find something to keep you going, like a goal to help motivate you to get outta bed every day and keep going

@french_fry_guy I can dm you if you'd like, housing is tricky, so is a job but I do have some ideas and I can help explain the process of a GED so you can get a decent job if you choose to drop outta highschool, i dropped out of school for a GED btw

@Yanderemenhera I will, and I’m gonna find a job this summer because I turn 16 this summer. I really need to find excuses to leave (like my volunteer hours or a job). The worst part about emancipation is my parents would have to be ok with it, and they would FIGHT to keep me. I feel like it’s a power thing but maybe they genuinely think this is the best way to parent

@french_fry_guy that does suck, but I mean, it might be worth talking to them about, if they hate you enough they might not care, but at the same time they might want you with them bc they like having someone to abuse or they "love" you and they think they are doing the best they can for you
