That's algebra.
On the second line, -6(x + 5) turns into -6x - 30 because you multiply it with x and 5. The +3 remains unchanged.
The same thing goes for -2(x + 4,) you're just multiplying the ones in the () by -2.The third line, you have -6x - 30 + 3. Since you're subtracting 30, it counts as a negative, so it turned into - 27. For -2x - 8 - 4x, 2x and 4x both have x. In negative numbers, subtracting -4 from -2 will act as addition, giving you -6. -8 remains unchanged.
Finally, I forgot exactly the steps for how to remove -6x (I did algebra last year) but I'm pretty sure you just divide it by itself to get rid of it.

@Rusty You do not divide it in this case. In the screenshot, the -6 on both sides cancel out, as the right side -6x, when moved to the left side, becomes positive. This example has no solution.
@Idyll I know it had no solution, I just forgot what to do to remove -6. Thank you for the correction

@Takuji It could be a bad teacher. I failed the first unit of Algebra last year because it was the same stuff I did the year prior, in which I had the worst math teacher my school has ever seen. He didn't teach at all

@Takuji actually I don't really have a teacher for this its all online so if I have a question the only way to get it answerd it to stay after school and ask for help then go home late

Afterschool can actually provide good bonus score. Since me failing the first unit dragged my grade down last year, I did credit recovery during after school and brought my grade up from a 69 to a 85.
